That gun has already run through a 9 day cycle with no bids..... After a quick peek at Bowen's catalog, a little patience would get you a twin for a lot less money. Tim I was wrong Tim...you were right. If I supply a barrel and a gun, this was Hamilton's reply to what that build would cost: Costs to build a .500 on your.44 SRH AK would be as follows: 1.) Cat. no. RD07GP Basic 5-shot converion....$2195 2.) Cat. no. R300 Shorten Factory Barrel...$350 3.) Cat. no. R250 Shoot for Regulation...$95 Ought to do it. Seller is much higher than I thought. He really should have taken my offer...I really shouldn't have offered him what I did. Whew!

I like yours better....it's a GP-44 conversion? Although, that 4" Anaconda barrel on that gun seemed really muzzle light when it was loaded. I've been thinking about 5.5" being about perfect. 5.5” is what I was looking at doing, but I could work with 5” i also though the GB gun Was a converted SRH, am I wrong??? i feel the extra cost comes down to what is the wait worth to you, personally. If it takes 4-5 years, then what is that worth monetarily. would you have a use for it 4-5 years from now???........much like the seller. Trapr

The Trick is finding a Redhawk barrel rebored to 500. If you have that you're golden. The invoice items on mine, including barrel and rebore add to a bit over $3000, then add in an Alaskan for $900 and you're off to the races.
The other route is to Have Hamilton whittle out a S&W underlug style barrel. Inclusive of the base gun you're looking at $4700 or so.
Unless someone starts doing 50 cal rebores, the fact of the matter is that the gun in question can't be duplicated today, unless you have a 500 redhawk barrel stashed away. He's asking for basically an $350 premium over what it would have cost new.

I waited almost 4 years on rebores during that time. That is why he had to wait so long....atypical.

Someone referenced Tom Casselman with a thread. Does anyone know if he's still with us? I ended up with a few of his, sent one down the road.

Couldn't swing any of the guns when he was selling them, but ended up with one of his .500 Linebaughs several years later for much more money. Had to go back to Hamilton because someone got into the lockwork along the way to lighten the trigger pull.

I had one of Tim’s guns but for the life of me I can’t remember exactly what it was. I THINK it was a 475 max that I sold to a guy to pay for the mule I have. The guy still owes for 100 pieces of max brass .😠

It was for the .480 Redhawk w/Anaconda barrel and Persinger ivories he had built. I still have his .475 Dustin bisley

Seems like Tom was ahead of the curve on builds. I hope he's still alive.

I still have his .475 Dustin bisley I believe he sold the long barreled 500 I have at the same time he sold twin stainless octagonal barreled bisleys, a 45 and 500. He had good taste and, it seemed, a wallet to match.

Just bear in mind that that quote doesn't get you from here to a .500 linebaugh super redhawk in your safe I know how to get from here to there, no worries at all. I'm just wondering if those services offered and dollar figures are current of this year.
