Another question. Is there a reason that you/he used a separate base for the front sight instead of using the integral base on the S&W barrel and a pin in blade?

The knife though, always gotta ask. A real or replica early American "Riflemans" blade or fancy letter opener ?

It may have to do with the original model 29 barrel being 8 3/8” long and tapered slightly. It seems like mid length Smith barrels work ideal for Ruger conversions while retaining the Smith front sight base. Just a guess and may be all wet too.

Kings 6 put the idea in my head about shorting the barrel from Front and the wiegen base is from Bowen same as rear sight.

The knife is a small Mexican bowie. Andy did a great job I sent him a box of parts and a long list of things I wanted done.I will have him do a 38/40 next.
