I SEE ON GUNBROKER THAT CHARTER ARMS 45 COLT BULLDOGS ARE FOR SALE, MOSTLY FOR IN THE MID 300's. ANY OF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM?

I was looking at them the other night. Seem cheap. I wish they hadn't got tricky on the .45acp extractor..........

Can't they just make a Bulldog like the original?

They still make a 3" Classic I believe. But it won't take 45 Colt or 41 mag.. Oh..just checked, and no 3" Classic seen ! Well, that's not nice ! Darn.

I have the .41 which I understand is on the same frame as the .45 Colt. Saw one of the .45 Colts at the local gun store but already had the .41, so I didn't even ask to handle it. Bought it so I would have a pocket gun for wood carry to replace my Kahr CW45 in case semi auto pistols end up being banned for some reason. Have shot it with Underwood 230gr SWC Keiths at 1,260 fps and Grizley 250gr WFN at 1,170 fps - both chrononed on my Labradar at 55 deg f. Neither are pleasant to shoot but based on the two, the 250gr+- .45 at 800 to 900 fps shouldn't be abusive. Bullet pull can be a problem and point of impact is very high vs point of aim. Got sidetracked and haven't worked with it much lately. Need to work up a load that shoots to sights at 25/50 yds (trying Lehigh 150gr XPDs) just in case I need to chase off a coyote interested in my dog. Also have some 220gr Lehigh monometal WFNs incoming. Will try to get these to 1,000 fps for up close and personal use. The Charter is the top gun in the picture (bottom is a .41 Taurus Titanium 415?. Hope some of that helps. Paul

Had the hots for one of the .45 Colts for a while but didn't want to buy without handling one first. Finally ran across a .45 ACP at a gun show and the difference in size compared to the Bulldog was more than I expected. Not as compact as I had hoped.
