The Nelson conversion has Marvel's name on on it. The left side of the slide says "Designed by Bob Marvel" Don't know the ins and outs of Nelson and Marvel. In my 40 years of paper punching I've owned Kart, Marvel, and Nelson conversions. Today this iron sighted Nelson makes three Nelsons I own and shoot. Dang! 40 years makes me sound old doesn't it. I'm not really. Could not have not been much more than a toddler when I started.

Axe, what did you give for the Nelson unit if you don’t mind tellin’.........I’ve got a Marvel with both top end sight setups and 3-4 mags I don’t use that could go to a good home but I’ve got no idea of worth and I can’t recall the price I paid. I bought it from Bob back in 98-99.

There is some variation in the Marvels that I'm not up to date on.... Paid $400 each for my first two scope rail Nelsons new about 5 years ago. Paid $400 for my newest used iron sighted Nelson with the $30 part set. I knew the original owner and knew it to be as new.

Thanks, that’s about what I figured value was but wanted to know. Thanks again, Trapr

FWIW If you build a proper frame for these things with top drawer innards you can end up with a chunk of money it. A Caspian frame properly done to match my preferences comes to over $300. Add $150-$200 for a match hammer/sear/disconnector/spring set. Still need a mainspring housing, magazine catch, grip safety and other bits and pieces.

Missing a few required pieces. Mainspring housing innards and grip safety are not there. I'll gather them up and then the plan is to send the frame and main lower parts to Accurate Plating for some industrial chrome.

FWIW when you look at the difference in the price of a stainless frame and a carbon steel frame the cost of hard chrome on the carbon steel frame easily overcomes the extra cost of the stainless frame. Thinking I'm about to go stainless on dedicated frames for my second and third Nelson conversion. These two currently reside on pre series II Kimber Supermatch frames. One wears a Aimpoint 9000SC. The other wears a 2X Burris.
