Well, this is all just sadly morbid. My hopes of another barrel for my 1989 Maximum just vaporized. Back then, I bought a Neil Jones Custom Products 7BR threaded neck sizer, an RCBS FL sizer, and RCBS Comp seating die to load for it. Remington was still making 7BR brass, but knowing Remington's history of stopping or discontinuing certain cases led me to buy a K&M expander to form new brass from 6BR, which Remington was still making at the time--long before it became the 6BR Norma. I still have that MOA with the polished blue barrel that was bought for IHMSA shooting. Hooded front sight, the works. After a lot of years it got scoped using an MOA base and rings. It still gets a trip to the range once in a while, but nothing like IHMSA competitions 34 years ago. Getting another barrel is easy. They go on just like any rifle barrel but with the indent for the barrel stop and spanner wrench. Nolan Custom guns will do one. Unfortunately, any new barrel fit snd chambered is pushing $1k now. Cheaper to buy a second gun usually.

This gun is in 250 Savage AI. I have another coming in 6.5x47 Lapua, and a third with barrels in 44 mag, 454, 250 Savage, and 7mm/6.5 Rem Mag. The barrels are switched using a spanner wrench and there's an indexing screw on the forend hanger to align the barrel. This gun has the sporter forend, but the 6.5 Lapua has the bench rest forend which has a wide flat bottom and an aluminum insert that acts like a hangar bar or pillar. I've got loads worked up and when the weather improves I'll take an afternoon to see how it shoots. I'll wring the three guns out and then decide which to keep or modify. Obviously there's no need for a dedicated 250 AI gun when the other barrel is easily reamed. The action and stock weigh relatively little, so if I like the platform well enough to stick with it I'll have a slim profile barrel made to get the weight down further. Maybe I'll find the 6.5 Lapua is all I need. If I don't like the rig, I'll sell them off for an XP in 284, 6.5-284, 260 or similar class of cartridge. If you ever want to get rid of that 250 Savage AI give me a holler. I have wanted to play with that cartridge and my .375 H&H MOA maximum needs a little buddy.

Thanks Ken. I kept racking my pea brain to remember where the MOA stuff went. Thought it was Rock. The moa stuff never went to rpm i remember after jim passed the family was going to try to keep going and i was going to buy one but with everything crazy at the time worried about parts next thing i knew it was purchased by gateway precision arms which the gary guy owned then he purchased for some reason moa from the guy in oregon who got it from mertz because the guy became really sick. I remember soon after he bought them there was a pic of a bunch of parts and frames in a small building but that was it. I still dont get buying both guns and sitting on them taking a loss like that

Actually, I ordered mine from Mertz, then Gateway sent the gun to me.

Yea your right because before mr rock passed away im guessing he was gonna sell and gateway was the ones gone to take over and for awhile i guess they did but i dunno what happened because afyer a bit everything went back to normal running through rpm. My bad i forgot about that i just wish the guy would start making them again i still remember the pic after the move of a stack of rpm xl frames just sitting on a table. Its a shame

I have one of the moa in 308 bull barrel with brake and the bench rest fore arm. It is a tack driver never really shot much because the company disappeared . But guess that's kind of crazy . I need to brake it out and hunt with it or shoot it more. Doesn't really make scene why he bought and never keep producing such a fine fire arm , just like smith wesson did with Thompson center.

Can anyone tell me what it takes to convert a MOA Maxim from centerfire to rimfire? Would anybody like to sell a 22lr barrel and what it takes to convert?

We have covered this on your other posts. It takes a block and a barrel and some of them had a rod to help eject I believe. Good luck! Same answer as last time bud.
