I kill A LOT of Hogs with Handguns. My place is simply over run with them. I have gone to trapping them and making sausage as needed as they are mostly nocturnal. I am a single action NUT. I do not own a .22 rimfire revolver anymore. 22 L.R. is all that is needed to dispatch hogs of any size from 20 yards when trapped. (Save the lecture of bigger calibers for armour clad boars. Its not real. Ive killed somewhere in the thousands of hogs). The Ruger Wrangler looks to be a soild choice for a knock around and beat up cheap farm gun. Is it difficult to regulate sights on one of these or am I better off doing something else? My walther p22 has a broken slide and she is retired. It's needs to absolutley print where I point it. Thanks for your time, Colby

Groo here In a single action , I would go with a revolver with adj sights and a mag cylinder .. Of a Keltec 22lr or 22mag...auto The spare cylinder will allow a little more "Umph" if needed... If 22lr, the longest barrel you can carry..

Sounds like a road trip is in order to help a fellow sixgunner deal with his feral swine plague! Lol Wrangler looks like it would fit the need. I do love my adjustable sighted ss bearcat though!

Ooommmph is NOT needed on trapped swine from 20 yards. I stay back from trapped pigs that far because they play hell on traps trying to get out. Yeah, I take them with big boomers in the field at range.

I HAVE TESTED ALL THREE COLOR COMBINATIONS. THEY ALL SHOOT PRETTY MUCH ON FOR WINDAGE AND A LITTLE LOW WHICH IS EASILY FIXED WITH A FEW FILE STROKES.

Great to meet another hog slayer! Last year I killed 238 hogs. Didn't make a dent. Like you, over my life, I have also killed THOUSANDS of hogs. Mostly with Thermal and Night Vision AR's. Last weekend I trapped and killed 11. Then got another two outside the trap with a rifle.

I, like many here would enjoy helping out fellow forum members thin out the hogs on their places. I've never been on a hog hunt,, and would enjoy the chance. As an animal damage control agent,, I FULLY understand the need to kill a BUNCH of them. And trapping is a much more effective control method than hunting for sure.
But to answer the question about the Wrangler,, at 20 yds,, as noted,, SHOULD give you the accuracy necessary. But,, if I were concerned about serious accuracy,, I'd invest in an adjustable sighted Single-Six. Not much more money,, and it'll adjust to whatever ammo choices you prefer.

A pre-scratched and dented , ranch ready, fearless to toss around used one should be able to come home for the same price.

Local farm store for $184. Gun prints 2 inches low and dead center at 3 yards with the generic $2.89 ammo I grabbed. Will try some other ammo and likely file the sight. I guided Sandhill Crane hunts in the past. This year was my last ever. I will NEVER hunt with folks I dont know from this point forward. No offense fellas. Ive seen it all. From sports shooting my decoys which are Birds that Ive taxidermied, to blowing holes in the roof of my blind.

OK, come on. One guy went through 60 rounds in 4 days shooting every raccoon, opossum, armadillo, etc., THEN was grumbling mad that he never shot a hog! Well geesh, YA THINK?? Oh, I could go on and on and on... LOL! Hogs are much smarter than some humans. I bet the same thing happens in the Crane blind! I KNOW it happens in the duck blind!! I get one Crane tag a year and use my mighty 10 gauge Spanish double hand loaded with nickel plated #2's around the 2 ounce mark, 1350 fps (according to the book). I can tell you one thing; the target and you are both going to feel a little pressure.

I had to chuckle at the comments about some of the "folks" that go on hunts. I'm a Hunter Safety Instructor,, and I can tell you,, some of the people I've taught need a SERIOUS mentor before they go afield. But,, I've also had young people with more woods smarts,, as well as good gun handling skills than a lot of adults.
I usually hunt alone most of the time,, unless I know my companion very well. I'm a serious handgun hunter,, & most other hunter give me weird looks anyway!
