NICE! A stainless 4 digit, Liberty model! They only built about 5000 in 1976. The pics are a little fuzzy,, but if this one has the "backwards cylinder inscription," it would be VERY rare. The serial number is fuzzy,, but is it; 4795?

Trump45, the cartridge cylinders are a ton of fun!! They make for the ultimate convertible. Typically they prove a rather accurate setup. I have designed and developed a gated conversion for the ROA (all the others are "drop cylinder" conversions). They will also allow "Ruger only" loads to be fired (talk about "ultimate convertible"!!!) There may even be a reason for a 5shot version of the gated conversion . . . hmmmm . . .

You could buy some extra black powder cylinders to carry loaded in something like a speed loader pouch. With practice, replacing the empty cylinder may be even faster than reloading a cartridge cylinder. With the current political climate in Oregon, it could become a prized possession. Good luck with whatever you decide.

The cylinder inscription is proper. Apparently, even more rare are the Liberty prefix models. I'm not sure of exact numbers, but when I bought this around 2012 or so I thought the non-prefix were the rare(r) ones. Still, for $500 I feel like I did very well.

Mike That's very interesting. Do you have a website or company name? A 5-shot .50 that could take a .50 Special cylinder would be VERY intriguing.

There were only about 800 of the "prefix" Liberty Old Armies.

If I had one, and had the conversion cylinder, it would still get fed FFFg. Just sayin'. FFFG BP loads in my BSBH 480 have some authority ! Use mag primer, get some compression.

I recently got another Old Army after going a few years without. This is a blue 7 1/2" gun with adjustable sights. It came with a conversion cylinder and some checkered grips, out the door for $425.00.

I seem to be ruffling a lot of feathers in the last day or two. I broke my back when I was 33 and have sold just shy of 80% of the firearms I owned to keep my family afloat and even sold an old H&R 999 to buy this camera for the birth of my daughter. It's embarrassing being reduced to certain things, but even more embarrassing to do it to myself and make it public, but here I am. I appreciate your honesty and you're absolutely right.

YOU HAVE NOT RUFFLED ANY FEATHERS AT ALL- WE SYMPATHIZE AND EMPATHIZE WITH YOUR PLIGHT. MOST OF US HAVE BEEN THERE IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. THERE WAS A TIME I HAD TO SEEM MY 1956 COLT SAA .45 7-1/2", S&W 1950 TARGET .44 SPECIAL 6-1/2" AND PRE-64 '94 WINCHESTER .30-30 ALL BECAUSE MY THREE PRE-SCHOOL AGE KIDS INSISTED ON EATING. SILLY KIDS.
