Btw I have never had any work done by TK Customs but they do make superb moon clips. Not being able to find a J frame 9mm I was willing to pay the freight on, my first 9mm snub was a Taurus. I could tie that guns trigger up in DA shooting at least once a cylinder full. I didn’t want to sell it to anyone else and it just sat in the safe. Dad really wanted it and I gave it to him with the promise that he wouldn’t carry it. I watched him shoot hundreds of rounds through it without ever tying the trigger up. Anyway I bought the gun used with one full moon clip in it so had TK send me a bunch.

Dad really wanted it and I gave it to him with the promise that he wouldn’t carry it. I watched him shoot hundreds of rounds through it without ever tying the trigger up. Anyway I bought the gun used with one full moon clip in it so had TK send me a bunch. ***** At the time, prior to its release, a 9mm S&W revolver----with the fancy hook extractors set in the extractor post----was handed me at the factory, production seemed aimed at supplying country where the 9mm Luger is ubiquitous, and .38 Special a rarity. Domestically, it was another new thing, maybe a backup for departments sniffing out Uncle Sugar’s movement toward replacing the 1911 with a 9mm Luger. Notice after the U.S. shot down Bristish and French development of sub-caliber assault rifles, cramming the .308 down NATO’s throat.... once everyone switched to a 7.62x51mm battle rifle, Secretary or Defense Robert McNamara sacked the M-14, replacing it with the AR 15 (adopted as M-16). NATO’s revenge may have been to pressure the U.S. to comply with its own commonality argument, and replace Browning’s .45 with the 9mm Luger. A rimless cartridge carried in a revolver should headspace on the CASE MOUTH, just as in an auto pistol. It should work with and without moon clips. Just as an auto pistol should fire with the magazine removed (you never know). At the time S&W developed its 9mm revolver, production dimensions for 9x19mm Luger ammunition was all over the place. It was a challenge in those days to reign in specification packages, dimensional and pressure. Aside from the one-at-a-time load & extract feature of single actions, these guns MUST HEADSPACE ON THE MOUTH. diamondd.... the Taurus 9mm jams with moon clips when you shoot, but doesn’t when your father shoots it. Different moon clips? Or what? David Bradshaw

No sir the way I interfaced with the DA trigger I would tie the gun up. Dad must have pulled the trigger correctly because he never did.

Some neat guns there. 2 Dogs was saying on a group buy thread for a 147 gr hp mold that he was thinking of getting a Single Six made into a .38 Super. That idea had never crossed my mind but it sure sounds cool. I’ve got a Dan Wesson Guardian in Super .38 and think the old round has a lot of merit. I have a new SP 101 in 9mm and sure like that little gun. I haven’t run any +Ps in it but could certainly see where a guy could run ito problems with the tapered case. Hmmm...... I've been into .38 Super since 1980...have quite a few semis and two TC Contender barrels as well as a MechTech Carbine conversion... While most of my Supers are Colts I did just buy a DW Guardian...a very nice gun for the money.... As to getting a SA .38 Super, I've talked to Jack Huntington about the project and have Ruger Single-Six .32 H&R Mags with a 4 5/8" barrel and a Birdshead stainless as candidates for the conversion...

The steel guns work fine. For alloy guns like the LCR pick your ammo carefully. We see lots of crimp jumping and subsequent cylinder lock up as a result. Asked Ruger about it and posted the question on the Ruger forum. Both sources stated that it was not a problem. Sent a gun back to Ruger and pulled a new one from stock. As of today we've run multiple 9mm LCRs here including customer's guns and they ALL do it.

Axehandle: How many of those tieups were with 9mm+P ammo? Bummer if the LCRs bind on standard pressure rounds.

Maybe the .38 Special is best in J frame size revolvers?

I’ve had the LCR in 9mm and never could warm up to it. But I always had a love for the 38 super and load for a Kimber team match. I have an sp101 4” 357 that my 38 super loads fit into and eject without issue. I think it’s a combination of large chambers and undersized dies.
