I CANNOT SHOOT HEAVY KICKER REDHAWKS WORTH A HOOT WITH FACTORY STYLE GRIPS, BUT I HAVE SEEN SOME BEAUTIFUL FACTORY STYLE GRIPS FOR REDHAWKS, SO MY QUESTION IS: HAS ANYONE TRIED THE TYLER T-GRIP ON A REDHAWK? AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

I had a Redhawk w/tyler -T , worked great , very comfortable with reasonable loads . I never fired any crazy heavy loads in that gun , so can't comment on that . But for loads up to 315gr at about 1250fps , not a big deal .

I've got one on my Redhawk .45 Colt. I like it.

I've got one, and for me the gun still slams the web of my hand pretty hard with any load that gets much over 1000 fps. Liked it just fine with 45 Colts in that velocity range.

AND HOW DOES IT WORK? ***** There is a dramatic difference in jolt of full house .44 Mag load in the original Redhawk with 7-1/2” barrel, and the same gun & load from 5-1/2” variant. Factory does does nothing to cushion base of thumb. Despite a bit more velocity from the 7-1/2 inch, RECOIL ACCELERATION is faster with the 5-1/2. The hump of the Redhawk backstrap is 1/2” higher than the S&W Model 29, from which Bill Ruger copied the grip. I saw more Redhawks (pre-5-1/2 inch) shot in IHMSA silhouette with factory wood scales than with the Pachmayr Presentation. Holding factory wood, loads which whisk through the 7-1/2" positively smack the base of my thumb from the 5-1/2". Wrap around rubber saves my mit on the 5-1/2 inch. Doubt a Tyler-T would do me anything on the Redhawk. David Bradshaw
