I just purchased a “New Old Stock” Ruger Redhawk 4.2” 44 Mag. The stock number is 5026 and the new ones on the Ruger website are stock number 5044. I haven't found any information on differences between the two. Does anyone have any knowledge of the difference between the two?

Front sight, yours is probably a pin in, Newer ones had the plunger system that looks like it came from the GP100. That's about all I know about them.

The original Redhawk fromt sight is the best interchangeable ever put on a sixgun. Yes, the spring-loaded plunger makes it a bit bulky. The concept was carried to the Super Redhawk’s round, hammer forged barrel via a silver soldered base. Bill Ruger, Jr., thought the Super Redhawk base should be slimmed, but never got around to it. Had the Ruger 03 ever made it to production, the SRH base would have been on it. David Bradshaw
