Nice. Do those have a meaty barrel shank? Thickness wise?

There are now 2 44 spec. C.A's here. They are not heavy duty, heavy load guns. When I get to the basement in a bit I'll try and get you a measurement. But if you cannot abide by SAAMI spec loads you'll shoot these things loose. These guns are lightweight and of reasonable cost, not N-frame 'Smith's.

I have the 4.2" Target Bulldog and it weighs just under 22 oz.
I load the 190 grn GT Hollow Point over Unique and it makes an easy carrying woods gun.

It was awkward to get into the frame window to measure. As best I can tell, both mine the same, .045" . Coffee not hitting bottom yet..

Yes, I was just asking to get an idea of ruggedness in general. A gentleman man I shoot with has one of the short barreled versions and I really like it. I think the 5" version is a good looking piece.I found out the hard way that if it says 44 special on the barrel, than load up SAMMI spec 44 special, regardless.

Nice. Do those have a meaty barrel shank? Thickness wise? No but I wish it did! Fortunately A 250gr can be launched 850fps without a problem. I have taken deer and hogs just fine with such loads.

Even the 4" will get it done.

Nice hog! I honestly had no idea a 44 special moving at 850 fps could do the job like that. That's impressive.

Nice hog! I honestly had no idea a 44 special moving at 850 fps could do the job like that. That's impressive. Cast bullets don't use energy to expand like JHPs which increases the frontal area of the bullet in order to destroy vital organs and displace matter. Cast bullets displace matter as a by product of cutting matter.A 44 Keith bullet at 850fps will penetrate most deer from end to end and leave a good wound channel on the way. In my larger frame 44 specials I shoot a load that consists of a 255gr WFN at 1000fps. I have successfully killed a deer at a lasered 112 yards with that load. In short they are very efficient killers as long as a hunting type bullet it utilized.

No longer made. They only built a few of them. I never could find one when they were cataloged but fortunately some one at Charter helped me out.
