Can we figure out which guns are made on Mondays and Fridays? Bushog, Knowing you like fine guns and workmanship!!!I would think long an hard on these current Mod Sp 101/.327s. I have had 3 of them and could not get settled on any of them, even with Gun smith work...They are definetly built different...my 2 cents

I like my 4.2 inch very well, I just had to change the grip though , i think mine are like all rubber ones above. That,s to bad cause the factory with the inserts are better looking. I put wolf springs in her too ! Think of the versatility, I can Cary .32 H&R HPs if i expect to be in a place where over penetration could cause a tragedy , And cary 2 speed loaders in my pocket, one with Magnum HPs, and the other with Hard cast, You never know what situation you might find your self in. If some loon was mowing people down with a car, the Hard cast bullets at 1500 fps might well get through the door , and into said loon ! ...tj

My first 4.2" barrel sucked. It had throats that ran from .314 to .316.Yes these were measure correctly. I would always get 2 distinct groups. 4 shots spread over here and 2 shot always over here.Got rid of it. My dealer got another one in about a year later. I asked him if I could measure the throats, and if they would be consistent, I would buy it. He's a good guy, and knows I want one, so he said go ahead. This one must have been made Weds. morning, because all throats were consistent and it shoots lights out. After shooting the first cylinder, I told myself this one is never leaving. It is my favorite gun. It always comes with me when I go shooting. This gun is one of those guns that make you look good, even when your so,so.

I have a 4.2 inch model. When I first got it, one of the chambers was pound-it-out sticky when shooting moderate to heavy loads. I sent it back to Ruger where a new cylinder was installed. I received it back in good working order and fittment was good. Accuracy was good as well. After this, it went to David Clements for his full tune up. The only other change I made was the grips. As someone else posted, the factory grips do indeed look great but they did not work well for my hand and finger position. I bought some Hogue rubber grips fully expecting them to be no better, but they turned out to be a fantastic improvement for me. It's a nice little revolver and fits in quite nicely with my other .32 caliber revolvers. It's not going anywhere!

I got one of the 3" SP101 when they first came out. Excellent shooter but required a taller front sight to shoot point of aim. I'm tempted by the 4.2" version. I'm very happy with the Single Seven too.

I also have the 4.2" in 327, I did have to send it back to Ruger, they replaced the pawl, came back perfect. I used it to qualify for my ccl renewal, and is what I carry. It is very accurate with a n 85 gn xtp and full charge of 800x, I also changed the grips to the Hogue style, and put in a 11# main spring from Wolf, oh and polished to a gloss finish, it's a great little revolver.

I did not care for the fiber optic front site either ... so I fixed that problem another way. Trigger on mine was great out of the box, which is rare for the SP101, in my experience anyway. Who makes the mount for that red dot?

I did the triggers on a couple of SP101s in 327. They do respond very well to tuning like pretty much all new generation Ruger DAs do. For some reason both of these guns had a lot of machining flash in them, and that simply has to go away. It kind of looked like Ruger tried to get a few more uses out of some worn and out of spec broaches and reamers. They sure cleaned up nice though, and the Wolff spring kits put the icing on the cake.
