I had an older 3" with the small windage adjustable rear sight...was a good shooter but HEAVY double action...it just felt like brick and was sold...
Waiting for Ruger to bring out the LCRX3"...that will be great Trail Gun...

I was offered a pair of the 4.2" A.S. guns in 327 and 357 Magnum for a good price.
Felt I had no use for the 357 Magnum, but after shooting it changed my mind. It shoots steady 1" groups at 25 yards.
The 327 Federal gets about 1.5" with loads it likes.
Guess I'll never learn not to get these notions and talk too much. No way either leave my possession now.

Got both ,3" and 4.2" The 3" had to have a trip back to the mother ship for extraction problems . It got a new cylinder and seems to be fine now. Fine little packing pistol. The 4.2" is maybe the finest desert hiking walkabout packin pistol I got. Got it in .357 also for the same reason. Factory triggers ? Yeah they can suck. But at least they are easy to fix. Just like a lot of Blackhawks , you may need to get under the hood a little to get them running right.

MY 4.2 INCHER SHOT SO LOW WITH THE FACTORY FS THAT IT WAS WORTHLESS AND THERE WERE NOT ANY FACTORY OR AFTERMARKET OPTIONS. A GOOD SAMARITAN ON THIS WEBSITE MADE ME A LOWER FS AND PROBLEM SOLVED. OUT OF THE BOX THE GUN WAS ROUGH SO I SENT IT TO CLEMENTS FOR ONE OF HIS STANDARD PACKAGES, PROBLEM SOLVED. UNFORTUEATELY, BECAUSE OF SOME BIG BORE ACQUISITIONS AND PROJECTS, MY FIXED SP-101 HAS NOT BEEN USED, BUT IT IS ON MY QUEUE.

I did not care for the fiber optic front site either ... so I fixed that problem another way. Trigger on mine was great out of the box, which is rare for the SP101, in my experience anyway.

I've got a pair of 4 inch 32 mag SP101s. I've thought about looking into reaming them to 327 but always have second thoughts.

BUSHOG: "magpouch" IS THE GOOD SAMARITAN. DID IT AS A FAVOR AND A HOBBY. HE CUT THE SIGHT DOWN AND THEN WELDED IT BACK UP AND SHAPED IT. PROBLEM WITH THE FS IS THAT THE DOVETAIL BASE DIMENSIONS ARE NON-STANARD AND I COULD NOT FIND ANY DOVETAIL SIGHT ANYWHERE WITH THAT DIMENSION. WHY WOULD RUGER DO SUCH A STUPID THING AND REINVENT THE WHEEL WHEN IT WAS NOT NECESSARY TO DO SO?

45 Man, it's been an interesting thought to me, proven over many years and many models, that there must be some guy at Ruger whose function it is to calculate incorrect sight heights, then foist them off on unsuspecting buyers. Surely it can't all be accidental incorrect calculations. I expect their front sight heights to be wrong anymore.
I'm also pretty much convinced that they employ somebody near the end of the production line, whose job is to put dings somewhere on most guns. Not all, mind you, just plenty. He / she must have some days off.

Other assembly operations come and go but those two ,along with the guy that cants random barrels and uses random reamers in cylinders have TRUE job security.

Can we figure out which guns are made on Mondays and Fridays? All of them. Except for the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday guns... Maybe it's not the Monday/Friday guns that are the problem. Maybe it's the after lunch guns all 5 days.
