Can't believe the hype over these. I saw a review somewhere boasting about "40,000 trigger pulls tested for reliability". I do at least that much every year with a single revolver.

I saw one in the flesh today!
They were asking $2,000. I didn't buy it.
For a few hundred under msrp, I would have definitely given it a long look! But not for 2k.

As soon as the hype settles down I'll buy a 6 inch model. Waiting for them to drop to $1400 or so.

Agreed and I'm waiting for more reviews. Preferably on this or other forums from everyday Joes.
Easy for a company to send prime specimens to gunwriters paid to say great things.
Not that I necessarily don't believe it. I mean the media would never deceive us.
Sure they report on what they have in hand. Just want to be fully aware of what ends up in mine.
I get all the major gun publications. I still haven't found that article that starts out "what a piece of crap this gun is."

I guess I am a serious buyer, but I'm not going to put out effort to give someone a lot of extra money. If I couldn't see the price, I would have definitely wanted to know more, but I think I scoffed out loud at their price... I handled a 4" King Cobra Target in November and it was good. Probably better than any new Smith I've handled in a while, but NOT as good as an old or lightly-tuned Smith.

Agree with both of you completely. I've been disappointed by many of the major brands in the last few years. That said, I'm hopeful that a change for the better will come. Ruger for example has shown a commitment to smaller, niche markets, and delivered on many customer specific requests.

There are now at least 2 videos on Youtube (one being Hickok45) where the cylinder stops turning and the firing pin lands on the previously shot round. Colt Quality!

The hickok video was good, and he didn’t have any light primer strikes. That other guy seemed to be having all the light primer strikes with that armscor ammo. I however agree that they both had the same issue with the cylinder not turning. That other guy was dangerous. No glasses. Gun going off unexpectedly. If I was that guy, I would be embarrassed to post those videos.

Curious to see how things go as this revolver gets into more hands for reviews and not just the infomercials they released on day 1.

I really was hoping Colt was going to make a huge comeback with this release and maybe turn things around for the company, especially since the first marketing reviews looked promising. Unfortunately, this is going to be a huge hit to Python 2020 sales, especially since hickock45 was one of the reviewers who had an issue.
Of course there are bound to be lemons from any company and Colt isn't alone (my 7-shot GP-100 is back at Ruger now due to the rim-stick issue that plagued the early releases).
Hopefully Colt can get it figured out quickly before the damage is done and before S&W comes out with a new line of classic revolvers without locks/keys and an accompanying ad campaign of "Revolvers should revolve and ours DO!"

I have not handled a Python 2020. They may be the best thing since pockets on a shirt.
BUT!!! I did inspect the two King Cobras at my LGS this morning. Fit and finish were total crap.
One had .008" end shake. It had .005" barrel gap with the cylinder pushed forward,.013" with the cylinder pushed back.
The second one was .002" better. Both had so much horizontal play, you could hear it hit when you shook the gun left and right. This was the same cocked and uncocked.
The frame fitting was too horrible to describe. Especially poor on the left side of the hammer.
The slight rib of the barrel was offset from the frame by a good margin. I failed to measure it and wish I had.
The finished was very uneven and varied from polished to "uh oh."
They also had a 38 Special Cobra. It actually wasn't too bad. Fit and finish we pretty dang good on it. Not great, but looked better laying besides the to KCs.
I haven't owned or shot any of these guns. They may shoot lights out. I'll never know because I'm not paying that price for a Saturday Night Special with a pony on the side of it.
LGS has a couple Pythons on order. I look forward to seeing them. I'd love to see the fine products we used to see from Colt. Guess time will tell...

IT IS EASY TO TELL. WHETHER FIREARMS OR ACCESSORIES IF THEY ARE NOT GOOD WE DON'T WASTE TIME ON THEM. SO IF NO COVERAGE YOU CAN MAKE YOUR WON DEDUCTION AS TO WHY. THERE ARE SEVERAL FIREARMS AND STUFF I WOULD NOT WRITE ABOUT.
