For a noob buying his first grip frame, what are the pros/cons of the Bisley vs Blackhawk trigger guard option? Obviously the Bisley is more of a rounded shape and is cut for the use of the Bisley part. Is this about looks or is there any functional advantage? For the Dealer specifically, a few posts above are examples with a Bisley hammer and a SBH hammer. Is this just a matter of preference? Any advantage to either? Hi Cheth. The biggest advantage is mainly for large guys with monkey paws. When i say large i dont mean tall. I mean thick. Big fingers that have a hard time going in between the trigger guard and the Front strap. It leaves room to prevent knuckle smack. Lee is an inch taller than me at 6 foot 2 and he has long slender fingers so he prefers the blackhawk style trigger guard. I dont have fingers, i have sausages with little finger nails on the end so i need all the room i can get. Ruggerag is a tall fella (A Warrior) with very large hands. So he opted for the bisley trigger guard. The triggers for a bisley are cheap and available so if you got some big sammich grabbers, why not. They both register about 99.997362 on the COOL Factor. This is an overlay of the Dealer with a bisley trigger guard in Black over a standard XR3 red blackhawk frame in Red. I know it doesnt seem like much on paper but it is a big difference in your hand. Here is an XR3 Red in Brass un finished. Notice my pinky finger is hanging off underneath and my middle finger is mashed between the trigger guard and the front strap. Here is a Dealer Bisley trigger guard. I can almost get all of my fingers on the grip and i can see daylight between my middle finger and the front strap. The dealer is .400 thousands longer than the XR3 Red. Like i said, every little bit helps. When the trigger guard is rounded and smoothed it works very well for me. I have one on a 454 and it is actually pleasurable to shoot. The model 83 and the XR3 Red just kills me with the power house rounds. Hope that helps guys! R

Ronnie, I just acquired a Ruger Blackhawk Flattop, 1959 vintage, 44 magnum. Curious to know if you make the "Dealer" to fit this Old Model? Crash87

Now Im questioning my decision on the "Potato Judge". If you close your eyes, lift up the revolver, then open your eyes are the sights near inline? I know this is like asking someone if they prefer cotton or synthetic shirts, just thought Id ask. That was one of the first things we noticed when grips got fitted to the original Dealer, that the the sights were aligned when you brought the revolver up to eye level. The first thing we noticed was how good it felt in hand! Some times a mistake isn't a mistake after all......

Here is an example of a finished. Potato Judge Junior on a Mid-Frame Ruger 45 Colt. Walnut for the grips was a gift from Lee Jurras.
Ahhhh, I can’t get Photobucket to cooperate.
Can I email the photos to someone to post?

Ronnie, do you have an overlay of the dealer and a SBH? We need a library of these things! LOL!
