Hi guys,
I'd like to eventually put a scope on my S&W 460XVR PC. What are some good brands and models that can withstand the abuse of the .460 S&W Magnum? I know Leupold is always a solid option, but what other brands are good options for this gun?

I have a SW pc bc .460. Purchased a leupold 2.5 x 8 and leopold high mounts. Not satsfied with the combo from perspective of not wanting to remove iron sights and ensure clearance. Seeking other mounting options. Think Whitworths friend used a sw pc bc 460 in his deer hunting video. Waiting to hear nack what he used.

I’ve put a Nikon 2.5-8 on a new FA83 in 41 magnum and would not recommend it. At higher magnification the eye relief is incredibly short. I’ve heard the Burris adjustable is good. I’ve got a fixed 2x leupold on an older magnaport stalker 454 and can only say its fantastic. If you’re not going to be shooting long ranges you might look at the ultradot.

Bushnell 2x6 is off the list. Won't stand up. Mine lasted maybe 2 years but gave up the ghost.
The leupold 2.5x8 I have now is so far so good. Really heavy, but no issues yet.
-----------
I have really long arms, so I need 24" of eye relief at max mag. I have not seen a scope yet that can do that. Not a single one. Leupold maxes out at maybe 3-3.5x before I get tunnel vision.
No choice on eye relief.

I have a Weaver 2.5-8 that seems to be a pretty good scope. I’ve only used it for load testing and shooting steel plates the last couple years. It’s endured hundreds of rounds of hot 44 magnum loads but I imagine the 460 is a different animal. I don’t think I’d have much trouble shooting it at up to 5x on game. I plan to hunt with it soon so will see.

Leupold 2x and 4x have shorter eye relief, the 2.5x8 has to be barrel mounted to get out far enough for me. The 2x and 4x are my go-to for price, size, and weight. Used you can pick them up for $125-175 usually. All the Leupold scopes are robust enough for a 460.

I’ve had good luck with Leupold and Burris fixed power scopes up to as abusive as very hot 480 Ruger loads in a 7-1/2” SRH.
