Almost three decades ago I started down the big bore revolver path and along the way found I loved 41 magnums and for awhile the only two centerfire revolvers I owned were 41s. One a Ruger Blackhawk 6.5 inch and the other an S&W 57 4 inch. In a gun trading lapse of judgement I let the 57 get away from me. I didn't miss it at first but it wasn't long until I pined for another. Having bouts of occasional pragmatism, I passed on several over the years, reasoning that I had a very accurate 41 in the Blackhawk and didn't need another. But the pining never stopped. Especially when I'd see a mountain gun so chambered. Well the auction ended, the funds and FFL are on the way and yes, I probably paid too much, but they sure don't come up very often in 41 magnum. I'll post some pics in a couple weeks when I get home from the slope.

I'm in a selling position right now, & I'm trying really hard not to let anything go, that I'd regret later... so far, so good... but sliding deeper down that slippery slope...
Me... I'd already made a pretty big commitment to "40 caliber" so it's been easy to avoid the "41"... but as I let the "40's" start going, I run the risk of being swayed by a pretty 41...

You're going to like it. That version is my favorite of the Mountain gun series.

...if that was the one on GB you didn't pay too much...I have seen them sell for a lot more and have not seen many sell for much less.
Had a pair at one time for several years. A few years ago one of the guys who I spent some time with in Idaho and is a .41 Lover had been looking for one for a while. Can't remember the details but somehow his wife contacted me and he got a surprise Christmas gift. One is all I need...
You will love the balance. Have had several sets of grips on it and right now is a set from Thailand that are nice and round.
Settled on two loads with 210-220 mainly cast bullets... 8.0 of Unique for 950 fps and 9.0 of Unique for 1100 fps... Have a MP Keith mold that puts out a solid, HP or PentaPoint from 212-220 grains. GT Bullets has a good selection of .41 bullets cheap..with 10% more off this week...
Enjoy your pair of .41s...it is all you really need...

Thanks guys. It was the one on GB. I have several molds for the 41. Many because of the enablers here and those darn group buys. I would love to get an MP mold for a Keith bullet with the hollow point option. My current 220 grain SWC is from Arsenal and I have always felt the meplat was too small for the bullet in their version. My other 41 now is a Bisley. I had both it and the Blackhawk for a while and the Bisley is every bit the equal of the Blackhawk in accuracy and I prefer the Bisley grips. I have an LBT mold for a 280 grain WLN. The only cougar I ever killed fell to that bullet. Back then I didn't know any better and cast them from straight linotype. They weighed about 265 grains and as far as I know that bullet is still going. That cougar didn't slow it down much. It brought about a rapid end to the cat. It went about 20 yards and flopped in the river.
I have always liked the way the Mountain Guns handled. I've shot a few of friends and always wished for one but they always went on the back burner while I chased other interests. The last couple years it has become a much stronger urge for one. I figured I better not let this one get away.
I'm anxious to try the two group buy 41 molds I have. The 411 Hammer and the 413-265. I think that 265, cast a little on the hard side, in flat point configuration ought to be a good option for up here in bear country. I carried that Blackhawk for several years as my only centerfire revolver up here. I kept it stoked with the LBT bullets cast pretty hard. I had a few bear encounters while wearing it but all were resolved amicably.

I also was watching the one on GB, at a different time I would have bought it. You didn't pay too much for sure and honestly I can't believe it lasted as long as it did. I want to expand my 41 mag collection but it's extremely difficult, they are such sought after guns These are my 41 mag Smiths

Very nice! I'm down to my last two mountain revolvers, from 4 at one time. Held on to a pre lock 45 colt and acp.

In my normal weirdness, I have never owned an actual Mountain Gun but I've owned/own two Mountain Guns. Confusing, I know. My first was a couple years ago when I found a pre mountain gun that John Gallagher had rebarreled with a tapered 4" barrel. This one has since moved on but there is still the N frame 41 Special with the rebored model 28 barrel so in essence it is an older blued mountain gun but in a non mountain gun caliber Which by the way, I was jsut able to secure a like new Tyler T rp for in black and it is SWEET on the gun with the old ivory grips! Color me thankful!

Well I'm a fan of the 41 as well. And while my main focus is on Rugers,, I've managed to score several nice S&W revolvers over the years. A few M27's, a 19, a 25-2, a 29-2, a 28-2, etc. But the 41 has eluded me so far. One of these days I hope to luck into one! Kudos on you finally scratching your itch!

My .41 mountain gun wears a titanium Model 357 cylinder. Last I checked, Numrich had a few if you want to shave just a little more weight.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to getting to the range with it as soon as I get home. I need to get a really bad weather day so I can stay in and cast bullets a day or two. My 41 stocks are low. I haven't cast at all with the two new MP molds. Or my newest LBT mold.
