Alway been a fool for a ACP Revolver.... Today a Thunder Ranch 22 popped over the counter at the local emporuim... Has the lock but no bling... Remembered that N frame Galco Hi-Ride That Kings6 gave me.... May take a few week to bail out... Will give me time to look for some grips... Needs the hammer bobbed and the corners rounded off the trigger...

Isn't the Thunder Ranch the one with the rail on it?

Isn't the Thunder Ranch the one with the rail on it? There are 3 Thunder Ranch revolvers, a 44sp (model 24?), then a model 22 fixed sight 45 ACP and then that new 325 Scandium frame space gun 45 ACP that came out last year. The first two were cool old school fighting revolvers the last is the latest in new school fighting revolvers. I want one of each but they are kind of down the wish list a ways....

This is one of the older steel, no rail, guns.... I haven't yet bonded with that little cylinder gap blast shield on the scandium guns...

axehandle, I think I saw one like yours at a local gun shop yesterday, what is a fair price for a used/clean one? I may need to go back today, it's been wedged in my mind since I looked at it.

There is a lot of subjectivity in the term "clean" when it comes to guns. This one is pretty much as NIB with the Thunder ranch soft case, moon clips, and all the papers.... I always feel like I overpaid but I like my dealer and he needs to eat... You know it is getting bad when you have to pull the receipt out to see what you paid for a gun just yesterday... $700 out the door. Works out close to $650 + tax
Will be looking for a hammer, trigger, and grips for the little beast. Hammer spur has got to go as do the corners of the trigger. I always like to put the original parts up for those guys who don't care for my personal tastes in defense revolvers.

Sounds good! Thanks. This one is not as nice as yours, so I have a good idea now, much appreciated.

I believe they offered a mod. 21 Thunder Ranch in .44 Special too. Frank

I think the 44 is the one we usually see with the gold bling on the side plate...

I think you might be right about the bling, otherwise though, is the onl ydifference between a standard 22 and a thunder reanch 22 (except the new ones with the rails) the thunder ranch logo on the sideplate?

The Thunder Ranch 44 Sp with the bling on it is also a round butt. The 45ACP moonclip gun is a square butt with magnas.
Sorry - I absolutely cannot seem to remember S&W model numbers except for 10, 19, 27, 28, 25, and 29 ... and even then, have not a clue what they were called before they were a "number."

Well, that answers the FB/RB question... Cut the deal on the gun without even thinking about that aspect. Now I can start looking for some grips...

The front sights are a bit different too. The mod. 22 seems to be stretched out a bit & the 21 is without as much curve to it. Frank
