Good job Max, looks like you had enough gun! I know one thing, when it gets cold in Texas you can't put enough clothes on!

You know, it was the theme of the trip -- everything is bigger in Texas, hence the .500 S&W - hahaha! I will say this, however, the kills were VERY decisive -- no running off to die.

Yup Texas whitetails can be a lot of fun I am told. I used to have a housemate who worked for a big ranch and did cull shooting at the end of season, lets say the body counts got to be ridiculous proportions. But they were all gutted and skinned and taken into town where the food banks received them, processed them and fed a lot of needy people each year.
Now Whit my question is are you sure you used enough gun for those girls?

Now Whit my question is are you sure you used enough gun for those girls? It's the perfect amount of gun -- and this is my reasoning: no tracking necessary as every deer died RIGHT NOW. I will add that the Texas whitetail absolutely lives up to its reputation as being skittish beyond reproach. They are totally switched on and movement discipline had to be functioning at the highest level at all times.

I was just ribbing you, I look at it is anything more than you need just blows out the backside of a deer. I know my 338 does less meat damage than my 270s do on deer but is far better for elk when called upon...

I know you were, but the truth of the matter is that I LOVE decisive kills and this thing delivers!

That spotted deer would have to be tanned, kids blanket.

As my 3 year old grandson would say, 'you really blasted those deer'. Looks like you had a good time.

That spotted deer would have to be tanned, kids blanket. That's actually an Axis deer and they are considered exotics here so they can be hunted year round. Some of the best tasting meat you'll ever eat! They definitely make nice looking blankets, rugs, or mounts, too.
