really long tines... & get this... he shot it in his yard, at 75 yards... he has a nice bow, & actually had a 75 yard pin... pierced a lung, & destroyed the heart at 75 yards

Congrats ! Very nice. I used to field shoot at a club and had 20,40,60 yd pins. Come hunting season I removed the 60yd pin to remove temptation. In the yard, with a release, etc.. Can see it.

75 from flat ground is certainly doable if your form and tuning are both good.
Field archery has targets out to past 100 yards and guys are drilling those consistently.
When I was working up for my archery caribou hunt I had pins out to 80 yards and sent hundreds of broadhead tipped arrows downrange at that distance. A couple of the days in hunting camp when, we were weathered in with nothing much to do, we started shooting from as far back as we possibly could. The farthest actual aiming point I could use was the outside of the sight ring, just below the level. That was about 108 yards. I was probably about 70% in the kill zone at that range.

I got a spike this past week with my crossbow. I passed on a 7 pointer yesterday,, due to distance & wind.
