I just saw this today, and I thought it would generate some discussion. I have always been a fan of the Red Rider Daisy. This is a little mix of the old and the new.

There are 2 real Daisy Red Ryders here. One within reach right now for targets of opportunity out the back window. Not even a triple dog dare would get me to take that to camp to show the guys. Maybe I'm getting old, but that's now 2 new firearms that kinda make me wretch.

Why does it have a magazine tube of it had a box magazine? According to the article, it is only for appearance.
Quote from the story:
TFB: The gun is box magazine fed. What is the tube underneath the barrel for?
JB: The lower tube on the Red Ryd-AR is for aesthetics only, just to stay with the Red Ryder BB gun theme. I did design a camming feed system that would eliminate the box magazine, using a spring-actuated feed system that relied on the reciprocation of the BCG. While functional in theory and prototyping, I abandoned that design for a few reasons.
Mobjack I march to the beat of a different drum. Hell, I even hear voices. (see what I did there?)

<snip> Maybe I'm getting old, but that's now 2 new firearms that kinda make me wretch. Mr. bula you are just too serious.
The Thunderstruck is just unique/different. I believe it could have potential with the two volley shots at once. The two finger trigger, is too much for me, but a J-Frame Smith shooting double-taps has my interest.
Now the Red Ryd-AR is a fun-gun. Though, it does kind of poke some of the Commie States in the eye, as it is not an evil A-Salt rifle. Who can be opposed to a lever action rifle? *If* they become available, and *if* they are not crazy expensive, I would buy one. I have a number of so called "useless" guns. The Tac-14 comes to mind, it gives the finger to the NFA (National Firearms Act), as no stamp is needed. I have enough guns, that I can add another "useless" one to the family.
Every gun does not have to serve a purpose. Sometimes being different is okay too. Talk about different/useless calibers, what good is the 41 magnum? The 44 magnum does everything the 41 can do, and more. I've been a 41 fan for over 40 years. Look at how many here are 41 fans (magnum and special). The lowly .32 calibers are another useless caliber, that also has a following here too.
Mobjack With plenty of useless calibers.

I think it's a thing of beauty! I'd LOVE to see these chambered in 458 SOCOM and 450 Bushmaster! Then we'd be talkin'...
I'm curious how it actually works though...
