We don’t always shoot handguns around here . I let Gabriel shoot a match last season when he was 11 with a 338 Lapua and he hit the 2208 yard plate his first trip out. So this was his first complete season The 2019 season for KS ELR (extreme long range) ended about a week ago. He finished 12th for the season which wasn’t bad considering the last two matches were rough. He started out with the 338 Lapua and finished the last half using the 375 CheyTac Improved (375 Snipetac). He hit the 2208 yard plate a lot this year and was all ok the bottom edge of the 2915 yard plate the day he had an opportunity at it. Just couldn’t get it to land on steel that day. You only have 5 shots for impact and points. He’s obviously the only 12YO in the game so it’s fun to watch him compete against men with years of experience he learns a lot each trip and each trigger pull watching wind shifts and learning to watch mirage at the long distances. His best finish was 3rd place in july along with another teammate at 2nd. I can’t wait to see next season arrive. He has all the parts for a new pair of 375s so both guns match that we shoot next season. Just need time to put them together we were also able to make the Nightforce Steel Challenge match in Casper WY in on our way back from NM in June. Not really “on the way” back home but it was a beautiful place to spend a couple days shooting with everyone from across the country. We may have one more later this Fall at slightly shorter ranges but we will see how it shakes out. Until then, he will keep busy shooting NRL22 matches with his Vudoo Gunworks rifle. They build an amazing 22 platform! Same footprint as Rem 700 SA. Great practice rifle!!
Setting up on the 2915 yard plate. He uses the Charlie to get enough elevation to dial for the target. You can see it attached to the end of the scope. We are changing that set up slightly to a newer version for next year. It will have a separate glass which gets barrel out of the way like on my rifle below.
