Met up with a friend and went to his Uncles place to shoot a specific rifle I’ve always wanted to pull the trigger on. He has a Shiloh Sharps in 45-90..... and I think I’m in love!!!! He has steel targets set up at all different ranges and shot steel out to 700 yds before it was time to go.... and we had shot up all the ammo he had brought. I’m thinking something’s might be going bye bye as I took to that rifle like a duck to water. Big fun!!!

I have a 40-65 Navy Arms Rolling Block, & a 32-40 Long Range Remington Rolling Block still needing finishing touches plus 4 "traditional" calibers from 30 WCF up to 50-70 on single shot Martini actions... I absolutely love shooting these old single shots... don't think you could go wrong picking up a Sharpes, Rolling Block, Low Wall or High Wall Winchester, or a Martini in a traditional caliber The 40-65 is easily my favorite right now, but I'm building the 32-40 specifically for long range shooting, it's likely to become my favorite My 40-65 Navy Arms Rolling Block... I got to use this one at a steel buffalo "hunt" once... 10 targets 1/2 size steel buffalo in a tall prairie grass area, most were varying levels of obscurity behind the tall grasses ... hit every buffalo on the 1st shot, to the furthest at 400 yards My 32-40 Remington Rolling Block ( as of yet not quite finished ) 45-70 & 50-70 Martini's... 3 leaf sights & light weight hex barrel on the top rifle ( 45-70 ) 38-56 WCF Martini with quilted Maple wood ( this still under construction as well ) 30 WCF Martini carbine..,

I have also been thinking about a 45-90 rifle, but for more practical reasons. I came into a bunch of new Starline Brass, Norma Brass, and paper patched bullets. Enough reason to pick up another gun for me....

Thinking on the way home...... I’m not sure if I had one where I would shoot it. Most places I can shoot are a couple hundred yards or so at the most. Central Indiana definitely isn’t a wide open space..... 🤔

I hunt with mine. I am in Florida and other than an occasional food plot most of my hunting is done in the swamps. They still work well there too

Personally I can’t see myself lugging around 12lb rifle to make 100 yd shots.....My thoughts brought me back to the fact I have a beautiful pre-warning red pad No.1 in 45-70 and I’m bored with it LOL. To me a good lever action in the same chambering as my No.1 would be just as useful..... but that’s just me.....
