It's time to rerun the Keith 358-429

I checked with BobK to be sure we are going to get the correct version and should have a drawing to update this thread soon. Bob will also advise on the HP pin configurations however I expect to at least have a small and large pins. In the meantime, we will be offering this mold either plain base or GC in the following configurations:

2 & 4 Cavity Brass HP Versions of the original Lyman 358429 Keith SWC
6 Cavity Brass Lyman 358429 Keith SWC mold
8 Cavity aluminum Lyman 358429 Keith SWC mold
Diameter will be .359 an choose PB or GC
Should cast at 173 gr solid, and 158 gr large HP cast with clip on WW.

I realize we are on the tail end of Summer and guys (except the dove hunters) are not quite starting to gear up for hunting season but we are going to get an early start here. This is a true copy as to dimensions from a very early Lyman mold. The bullet was ran as a GB by Catshooter on CB after I took about a year gathering samples of really early Keith bullets and then they were modified for best fit and casting performance. Note the meplat to crimp groove dimension as it's quite different from those being made now. I hope you enjoy shooting this as later Lyman versions made Mr. Keith very disgruntled with the changes Lyman made.

With 357 brass and crimped in crimp grove will it fit S&W model 27 cylinder length?

Put a case in your cylinder and measure from the case head to the front of the cylinder..... post that measurement here and I'll tell you if it fits.

Jim, A Model 27 will tolerate a 1.620” cartridge OAL.
.357 Mag cases are listed at 1.290” (but yours might not be)
A .357” crimp to meplat added to 1.290” case length requires 1.647” of cylinder. So for it to work in your Model 27 you will need to deep seat it. This is commonly done with several bullet styles.

I used to buy this bullet from a guy that hit all the gun shows in the area on a monthly basis. Well, he's long gone and IME this bullet is very accurate. I used to shoot the 200 meter rams with this (solid) bullet out of a 4" S&W 686. Lyman 357 mag book load of 10.0 grains Hercules Blue Dot, standard small pistol primers.
