Game I'm playing, research, the 325gr Speer and 13.5grs of PP. To swap over to A2400, what grs to equal velo ? What was loading up with PP will be loading down with the 2400, yes, understand. While, when, I'm there will ladder my way up and see how the 6.5" BSBH likes it.

What velocity are you chasing? I'm running 23.5 out of a 6.5" for about 1300. That same charge will probably net you around 1100 or so in the Alaskan.
Speers data has 23 as the low, but knowing how 2400 works you might be able to safely go below that.
Have you looked into a possible Unique load as well?

Wanting to find equal velo, then see if cases still sticking, in the yet to be returned Alaskan. Intend to use 4 5/8" BSBH to find that "spot". Your info helps. Why I mentioned laddering up..for use in the 6.5" BSBH.. Will be playing with this weekend and a trip to Erie for non-res licenses for this fall/winter.

Lots of Unique burned here, but going in the wrong direction for this issue.

Velo goal, yes. Want to be subsonic with the short barrel 480's. The bump in the night guns. A nice pay off with the longer barreled, carried to hunt gun..yup. Accuracy kept in mind..

Your load will be tried. Am still wowed by you putting 3 bullets into a Penn bear. Amazing job.

I worked from 23-24.5 and at 24.5 it was quite an amount of recoil and groups opened up dramatically at 25 yards and even more so at 50. I went down to where I was for consistency and easier follow ups, also I was touching bullets at 25 and 50 I was within 4" off hand. Unique was just a suggestion/question. I thought about trying it myself under the Missouri bullets for fun loads, just never got to it.

Fed-Ex just called to be sure an adult will be home tomorrow to sign for the returning Alaskan. Fingers crossed. Hard to work these lil buttons that'a'way ! Wish me luck. Chrono games played last Sat with the BSBH 480's and 2400 surprised me a bit. There was only 50-75 fps difference between the 4 5/8" and the 6.5".

Ive been doing a fair amount of testing with my 6 1/2” BSBH and some 400gr class cast bullets.

Understand I was trying to see if a subsonic load from the short barrels would give me quite a bit more in the 6.5". Nada. I chose 22grs of A2400, CCI 300, and the Speer 325gr SP. The Hornady brass stayed subsonic in the 4 5/8" but the Starline went over. Yet in the 6.5" only went 1200-ish FPS. The one load idea not gonna work. Will keep upping the charge, heading for Squigz load, in the 6.5". Will choose a different bullet for the short barrels. It s all my kinda fun.

Found the returned Alaskan here when I got home last night. Inspection then and now shows much smoother chambers. The Packing Slip says they replaced cylinder and adjusted timing. Safety check, proofed, etc.. Also came with a little brochure on how to properly clean cylinder, ejector, crane and such ! Ok then..news at 11 ! No , really, got to wait for a more decent hour to make that kinda noise around here. I put aside a couple cylinders worth of the loads 1st shot thru it and some others loaded since to try.

Just up from the lower backyard range. Believe Ruger done me good. Put cylinders full of every 480 load I have on hand and all cleanly ejected. Bears n giant possums beware ! Thank You for the gentle nudging Ty.
