Btw, what rings do you have on your shroud? That is a Leupold scope mount that was made for the DW vent rib. No longer being made....

Billy, 20.5grs H-110 - Rem. 7 1/2 - 180gr XTP was good for 2" group @100. This accuracy and velocity allowed me to make a 66 yard one shot stop on boar.... This was the first handload I tried in my 357 Max... I will try to work up accurate handloads using the 180gr Partition and Swift bullets.. IMR-4227 has always been an accurate powder in other calibers I`ve handloaded and am sure it will do good in the 357 Max.... I had a 353 Casull and was amazed what a fast 180gr .35 caliber bullet can do when put where it belongs..
James takes his sixgun to town.... your accuracy with H-110 under the Hornady XTP 180 JHP demonstrates the powder works very well with some bullets. IMR 4227/H4227 provides accuracy to a large variety of bullets. Thus, if another bullet doesn’t respond to 296/H110, don’t condemn the bullet until you try it over 4227. I would load these slow powders for zero air space. (Again, for those just tuning in: Do not load fast or medium burn rate powder in the .357 Maximum. DWA barrel shrouds are not heat treated. Dan Bechtel of B-Square built some of the first scope mounts for clamp-on mounting to Dan Wesson shrouds. I tried one on the .44 Mag DWA M44 VH8, and immediately bent the rib, as recoil put an upward bow in the ventilated rib. The B-Square mount had a cantilever aspect, which I suspect amplified leverage. Recoil from the .357 Maximum M40 may do no damage. After the M44 experience, I refrained from further use of the B-Square. Thus, didn’t try it on the M40. David Bradshaw
