A BFR with ERH length barrel in 500L would be awesome. Any idea what that'd come out to? I know they do wonky lengths with how they measure so I'm not sure what the order form would need to say.
Glad they dropped that front sight, but wish they'd use a DX base instead of pinned blades. Nothing so frustrating as an accurate gun with an imperfect front sight.

This one is equipped with an experimental design. The Precision Center measures barrel length in the normal manner. I have a .44 Mag with the barrel cut to the ERH. I will measure it. |

Thanks for the article, Max! Thinking about a 500 JRH BFR...again. I'm sure that hammer's functional but somewhere heard Ruger parts work in the BFR. Wondering if a wide-spur Super Blackhawk hammer would fit. Looking at your picture above, is Magnum Research doing a #5 base pin latch now, or did Jack do that?

I'm sure that hammer's functional but wondering if a wide-spur Super Blackhawk hammer would work. A SBH hammer will work in a BFR, at least it does in my .454. But the SBH hammer is shorter than the factory BFR hammer and creates an unsightly gap at the top. It didn't look right so I changed back to the original. |

No, Magnum Research did the latch. The internals are all Magnum Research now and a wide spur hammer is in the works. |

Thanks, seminolewind. Good to know a SBH hammer works and thanks for the heads-up on the gap. Aesthetics matter so I probably wouldn't use one either unless a smith could make it look like it belongs.

Took my AH to work last night and read during break times. Nice article ! Went home and watched the DVR'd episode of Shooting Gallery of Max shooting 50 cal BFR's. Neat.
