Nice thread. We spend our summers at our place in north Idaho and I just need to take a ride south to meet Dick. We are headed there early June I think.

Don't want to hi jack Mike's excellent post but I've done hundreds of dozens of those Cinnamon Rolls, I go all over teaching classes in different towns. Twice I've down 15 dozen for weddings. I've also taught classes at the local high school & done perhaps a hundred dozen at basketball games. They usually sell out in less than 5 minutes! All the money goes to the school. Mike told me one day that one time he had shot, I think 8 animals of some sort, can't remember for sure what it was. Anyway, when it started to get late & the Rock Chucks started to go down he said he never imagined shooting that many critters at one time, much less doing it without moving. It was a hoot to see him relax & do such fine shooting, he's good!

Doc,, I share your sentiments. Life is short,, and often we let stuff get in the way of truly enjoying the company of good friends & the pleasures that such friends enjoy. I, like you have had the pleasure of visiting Dick, RuthAnn, some of the sixshot clan, & even the sneaky callshot. And the food at El Toro,, while good just doesn't compare to the taters,, or the cinnamon rolls,, of just about anything I've enjoyed at the Thompson home. When you throw in the fantastic fun of hunting varmints like y'all did,, it becomes a treasured memory.
So, as I read your post,, I could easily smell the rolls,,,& taste them as they melted in your mouth. I could picture the riding around looking for targets,, then finding some. I could hear the laughter,,, the congrats on fine shots,, the kidding & all.
I can say I've enjoyed some hunts & such with others,, but in my heart,, the couple I've enjoyed with Dick, Steve & all the fine folks I met in Soda,, are the best memories I have of good friends, good guns & good food! Your post was PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I need to make plans to visit again,,, just because life is too short!)
