The bullets are .431 and want drop though but do nt take much at all to push through ***** Short of having revolver & bullets in hand, photos----with measurements when possible----can help diagnose problems. For example, take a bunch of photos of FORCING CONE, post one or two of the sharpest. With leading shows deposit. Without leading shows relative roughness or smoothness, and some times concentricity, of cone. You may have a couple of bad bullets. Even though it doesn’t lead, the Wide Flat Nose may be out of balance and inaccurate. Information is golden in trying to sort out a revolver on the jungle drums. David Bradshaw

Here's a couple of things not mentioned yet which can cause leading issues: 1-bevel base or flat base bullet (flat base leads less); 2-hard lube or soft (soft is usually better). At the velocity/pressure your load is running wheel weight bullets should be just fine. If you run high velocity/pressure 44 mag type loads harder bullets may work better.

Ray I'm almost positive I sized my last batch of 429421's .432". If you'll PM me, I'll see if I have some and if so will send you some to try.

Cholla,
It's your small, simple act of kindness that keeps me coming back to this group of shooters. I'm never surprised anymore when members here go out of their way to volunteer, support, assist, and help each other. Makes for a much nicer world to live in.

Ive been shooting 429421 bullets i made out of striaght wheel weights in 44 special flattop. Im using 7.5 of unique and after only 5-6 shots i have leading at the forcing cone. If i keep shoot it gets worse but mostly in the first 1/2 in of barrel. Any suggestions!? Try a powder coated bullet. My new S&W 686 leads like a sewer pipe with conventional lubed cast bullets , but shoots clean as a whistle with powder coated cast bullets. It would be worth your time to try them.

Easiest and least costly would be to paper patch the 421429 made from wheel weights. I have shot them (paper patched) to some high velocities with no ill effects. Then you would know if it is the gun or the bullet. If it is the bullet you could paper patch, powder coat, get the mold enlarged, or get a 429244 mold and gas check it.

Patching, coating and checks are all viable options, but they're also time consuming. The load and bullet he's using should lead little to none with a traditionally sized and lubed bullet. Either some throat work or a larger bullet should solve the problem. I have a few dozen .432" bullets sized and ready to go for him.
