I've got a couple Hornets, ranging from a 10" Contender, to a CZ 527 I bought used... the story I heard, was Ruger came out with their 22 Hornet, & a guy traded this nice CZ in on a new Ruger... came back a few days later & tried to buy the CZ back, as it shot groups half the size as the Ruger unfortunately for him, it was now residing at my house Also had a Raging Hornet, but I just could never love shooting it... it was so muzzle heavy with a full underlug 10" barrel, with only that little 22 caliber hole down the middle... so mine went custom, & I grafted a 6" Dan Wesson barrel shroud, & a 1 in 9" twist custom barrel... I liked the results so much, I did the same with a Ruger 77 Hornet, replacing the barrel with a 1 in 9" twist... The fast twist barrels add much versatility, as the 6" revolver has been stabilizing up to 68 grain bullets... bought a K Hornet reamer with the intention of reaming both fast twist guns... just haven't done that yet, as they have been working well in standard format...

I have the 527 Hornet plus a few others and I have to agree... its a shooter sight out of the box.
Just wish I took it out more... too many project guns....

this one, because it is the only one I have now. it is a 340 savage. it has a period correct redfield 2x7 I think it is about 1968 I have had rugers, several other savages and a model 43 Winchester. this one shoots the best. I have always found hornets to be picky and finnicky about grouping. I have been handloading since 1967 I had heard to always use a small pistol primer for better accuracy, the reason is a small rifle primer is to hot. the flame of the primer will jump the powder charge and start pushing the projectile out ahead of the powder. they work better, but remington developed the no. 6 1/2 primer especially for the hornet and 218 bee. when I went to them it was instant success! also the powder I love is hodgdon LIL gun. a case full and a rem. 6 1/2 primer will do wonders for the hornet,,,,,,,,,
