After welding, milling and belt sanding a handful of grip frames into something useful this is exciting stuff.

Or a bisley handle, dragoon trigger guard cut with increased room for the knuckle. Anybody know what Huntington charges to cut/weld/finish a dragoon to a round trigger guard? OR! Curved front strap like a SBH? Trippy Huh? What I like about this one is that it's reminiscent of the Colt Bisley. Super sexy, that Colt Bisley grip. Even if it's not the most functional. You could make the curve on the front even more pronounced.

Hey Ronnie, Just a weird thought since you are starting with basically a blank sheet and get to do it your way. What do you think about the grip locating pin being moved to the middle of the bottom of the frame, where the wood (or whatever) is thickest. So many grip panel failures happen out on the point as the material is so thin there.
Any pictures of that Lightning grip yet?

Been pondering that for a while. Havent done it yet but have seen it done and i can see a real clear advantage to having another hole thats either covered by the panel or used as an alternate. Been thinking why not have both! Right in the middle of the meat of the panel!

Bisley and moved the back strap in 3/8” on one for him. Wish I had pictures of that grip frame, turned out really nice. Justin

We started by cutting and welding in a piece to the trigger guard. Buffalo hunting in subzero temps gloves at least are needed. So that led to grip frame remodeling to eliminate the middle finger bashing. I have several examples of bisley reworks and one xr3?. Have no idea how to post pics though

A #5 grip frame that didn't cost as much as a used gun would certainly have my attention.
Of course I've nothing to put it on and would have to buy another gun to do so... but whatever. lol
