I have a vortex venom mounted with a weigand mini mount. It fits all my blackhawks and gp100’s. You just remove the rear sight and mount it. I haven’t had a lick of trouble with either one. Since you are using it for hunting, I would recomend a 3moa dot. The battery last over a year with regular use, as long as you don’t forget to turn it off. I have a slight astigmatism so sometimes the dot doesn’t look perfectly round.

If you don't mind drilling and tapping the topstrap, EGW mount and Ultradot 30mm. If you don't want to D&T, Raptor Engineering mount and Leupold Deltapoint Pro.

Raptor engineering mount and the reflex sight of your choice. My eyes see most dots as blobs, so I'm stuck with the adjustable dot Trijicon RMR since it gives me the greatest clarity.

Forgive me Clint unless this also applies to you. Wheelguns I thought that was me. My Eotechs are round as a circle, the Trijicon seems like a diagonal smear. Aimpoint fine too. The Chassis(es?) on the Eotech and Aimpoint are larger, would that have anything to do with it?

Sometimes my vortex looks like a circle and sometimes like a blob. I turned it on and used my cellphone to take a picture of the dot, and it was small and perfectly round. Someone told me that this is how to tell if it is you or the unit. I will have to ask my eye dr at my next appointment which won’t be for almost a year.

Wheelguns, that is correct. Unfortunately I don't know of any treatment. Try poking a pin hole through a piece of paper and looking to see if that clarifies the dot. If so a diopter on your glasses might help (but would be cumbersome).

I see red dots better without my glasses. With glasses, a red blob. Without glasses, a dot, triangle, cross, etc.

Focus on the dot like a front sight and that will in most cases, clean up the dot.

When I shot one in bullseye I would turn the dot down until I could just barely see it, and then turn it up one click. Then I would focus on the very top of the top, not the whole dot. You would have to experiment in the woods with one to make sure you could see it quickly when needed. I never hunted with one thou.

Ok at this point I am leaning towards getting a Raptor Engineering mount and a Burris FastFire. What do you think of this plan?

This is six rounds of 250gr WFNGC from my 41 Mag Bisley at 25yds using the Raptor mount and a Vortex Venom. I think it does okay.
