I'm getting ready to do a S&W project and I'm wondering if I should do it in 10mm or in .41 Special.
It will be on a L-frame....
With some of the talk about the GP100s and forcing cone problems I'm curious as to if the 10mm might be a better choice.
Thoughts?

Is 0.005 thickness difference at the forcing cone a big deal? I think you are better off rimmed and unique... 41 Special.

41 Special and cut for moon clips.
Seeing what the 44 Special can do on game, I have to imagine the 41 Special is also all the gun anyone would need up through elk. Targets don't know the difference. 41 is easier to load and more versatile in how you can crimp.

Should have a 6” talo edition 41 special gp-100 from Dave Clements very soon! So I vote for the 41 special!

Non starter for me but then you know how I'd vote. Shoot, I'd send you 23 pieces of 41 Special brass and all you have to do is pay the $45 shipping!

I don't even know how many 500pcs of .41 Special brass I have. The .41 is my choice, just wanting to see if anyone has a compelling reason not to. I've never used a moon clip.....if the cylinder is cut ffor them do you have to use them? Had one of the GP100 conversions David does in .41sp and really liked the gun. Had the beadblast finish on it and it had to go.....

I had a redhawk in 41 and the Ruger DA grip frame does NOT go well with my hand. That and the angular look of the Ruger hammer means there are no Ruger DA guns in the safe .

I have one coming and when I read your comment my stomach dropped! Lol

In fact I just sold another gun to the buyer from years ago and asked if I could buy it back. I'm at that "stage" in my collecting....he defiantly said no....... This may be a good place to say that If you own enough of these things, problems will happen. If they do you know where to go to get them fixed.

I have a GP at Dave Clements getting a 10 mm Rimmed conversion right now... I went that way, because I'm more invested in 10/40 than 41... I'm actually as much concerned about the stop notch on the cylinder, as I am about the forcing cone... But feel that if you're keeping with "special" pressures, and not trying to go to 10 mm pressures in the 41, they're similar enough as far as safety...

Unless you think there will be a 10mm rimmed case produced, I'd stay with .41spl. Folks are not having very good luck with the new Rugers when not headspacing on the case mouth. This would mean not crimping on cast bullets. KISS.............

An L-frame in .41 Special would certainly blow my skirt up. Lord knows that when I can put it together, I'll be sending one of those TALO 6" GP-100s to Mr. Clements to do his .41 Special magic on.
