I had a 10" barrel in .440 Corbon for my Mark VII Desert Eagle. It used the .50AE mag also, and was easy to make brass for it. Just run .50ae case into the .440 full length sizine die, and you had ready to load .440 Corbon cases. Just like back in the old days of my dealing with Automag pistols. If you had one in .357 amp, you just run the .44amp case into .357amp full length sizer die, and you had .357amp. I never had any trouble with my .440 Corbon reloads. Maybe I was lucky. Who knows?

So years ago the 440 Corbon DE didn’t fare well do now they tweet it and ya gave a 429 DE it sounds like to me. What was wrong with the 440 on the first place.. There were issues with consistent dimensions. I rechambered a number of 44 barrels to .440, and collected fired case samples from owners of factory .440's. I also had a factory .440. Headspace was all over the map. Out of all the samples I collected, including factory ammo, there was a whopping .024" difference in headspace from the tightest to the loosest. The particular die set I had put too much taper in the case body to be able to load a full magazine. I could only get 5 in before the top cartridge was nose diving too much. Accuracy was great, and I still have my 6" and 10" barrels. Looks like the .429 has less body taper. At least somebody actually named a cartridge after the true diameter of the bullet!

I have a 444 Marlin Contender pistol barrel. Tame as a kitten. Course, there is a lot of Trail Boss in there. LOL.

I had a factory 440 DE many years ago, but it was pretty much a POS. I've got a new 429DE now, but have never fired it. Back in 1999 we made about fifteen AR-15 uppers in 440 CorBon. I don't recall the exact numbers but it was pretty quick from a 16" barrel.

I have a .429 DE on order. Actually looking forward to playing with it and maybe whacking some hogs.

They have that bullet moving right quick. I wouldn't be interested simply because it is platform specific. I doubt we'll see that cartridge in any other weapon. Also I couldn't hunt with it here in Idaho for 'handgun only hunts' because of the bottleneck. That 50 A.E. I shoot out of my revolver was supposed to be platform specific too ........ Shaking my head at all this "use a rifle" talk, on this website of all places.
