I took a pic of the webpage and sent it to a couple of very big nephews.

To each his own. I would not buy one. The 445 is a rimmed cartridge and has never caught on. If I need anything to reach out at a farther distance than a 44 magnum, I pick up a 44 magnum rifle or one chambered in 444 Marlin. I don't shoot a 445 or a 444 Marlin in a revolver, because I value my wrists and elbows. Accuracy and the fact that the 44 Russian to the 44 magnum covers mild to wild in the same revolver. Ad in the rifle and all the bases are covered.

They have that bullet moving right quick. I wouldn't be interested simply because it is platform specific. I doubt we'll see that cartridge in any other weapon. Also I couldn't hunt with it here in Idaho for 'handgun only hunts' because of the bottleneck.

I don't own a Desert Eagle ( I bought into the Automags back then ) but I do find the cartridge interesting... a rebated rim 50 caliber cartridge, that uses a 44 magnum rim, gets bottlenecked into a 44 magnum cartridge... I'd be interested in that bolt action repeater from Remington, chambered in a cartridge like this... maybe a Lone Eagle...

M77/44 could be just the ticket now that you brought that up... Would need a magazine modification obviously, but otherwise it might work.

So years ago the 440 Corbon DE didn’t fare well do now they tweet it and ya gave a 429 DE it sounds like to me. What was wrong with the 440 on the first place..

Platform-specific, which kills my interest right there; the ergonomics of the Desert Eagle suck. As for the cartridge's potential? Don't care. If I need something more powerful than a .44 Magnum, well, that's what rifles are for.

My understanding is that the ammo didn't have a consistent shoulder and had huge issues with reliability. Given the .429 DE has a new a different shoulder angle and lower velocity than .440 Corbin, I'm guessing these were changes made to improve the reliability.

Not argueing, but maybe history will just repeat itself.
