Been looking at a Smith 329 for a long time. I’m finally going to drop the hammer and am wanting to find a shoulder holster for it. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Looking for something to carry while hiking, hunting and kayaking.
Thanks!

Optics of any kind? Including reflex or red dot sights, or at least the potential for that?
If not, EPS tanker holsters work pretty well, are reasonably priced, and the wait is relatively short.

Chest holster, preferably leather Diamond D Guide rig or 7XXX Leather out of Wyoming. Keeps the weapon up out of the brush, off your hip, and easy to grab with a minimum of movement.

I second the EPS tanker. Very confortable to wear.

Can't go wrong with the Diamond D Guide's Choice.

I just finished a couple 329 chest holsters... The 4" N-frame, carried on your chest, is about perfect for physical activities and sports.

I considered a 329 PD a year or two ago and contemplated holsters then. I know folks here love their finely crafted leather gear, but in the case of a 329, seems kinda odd to buy holster that will likely weigh more than the gun. The 329 didn't happen for me but I have to agree with AXE, this the place for kydex and nylon maybe.

Thanks for all the responses.
The 329 came in yesterday. Looks great. Ive already got a set of x frame grips coming in for it.
Next question is on the trigger. Has anyone had an action job performed on a 329? It is super stiff. I’ve done the spring kit on a 66 and it helped it tremendously. Didn’t know if anyone had had a real action job done on one and who would be recommended.
Thanks

If you're sending it out TK Custom does great work on S&Ws these days.

Matts, I kayak, hunt, hike, etc carrying various handguns including 4" and 5" N Frames. That specifically includes my 329. I also own a EPS tanker rig. It is very handy in certain situations and (for example)I tend to wear it under my goretex shell, but over my insulating layers when hunting in the winter. That said, for an all around practical rig, I find the Hill People Gear chest rig to be top notch. I use mine kayaking, elk hunting, fishing, hiking virtually everywhere, and even when exercising, as the gun is completely concealed. It is also extremely adaptable so, as the saying goes "the mission dictates the gear", I simply add or remove pouches or whatever to meet my needs. Glock 19 to 5" N Frame, it works great. I added a couple of blue force gear 10 speed pouches to mine. They were intended for rifle and pistol mags, but they also work great for cell phones, leathermans, pocket binos, small flashlight, mini range cards, etc.

That EPS tanker is a great holster.
But, if you're going to be sitting down in a Kayak it may not be the best.
The chesty puller from simply rugged will hold the holster high in the middle of your chest and can be adjusted for other positions too. Isn't the prettiest but....

Well the 329 now wears fixed d&l rear sight. I installed a Wilson spring kit and am very happy with the current trigger pull. Haven’t decided on the holster yet but am looking at all options. Loaded some ammo for it but still haven’t had a chance to shoot it. Maybe this weekend.

Googled up the D. L. rear sight. Many of the reviews praised the sight picture but none of the pics showed it. Odd. Then, the POR, price-on-request thing. Odd to see on a website, used to be an add in the back of a magazine thing. They wanted you to call. I like the idea of a beat proof sight for a back country gun though. Feedback as you use it please.
