Will see how it compares to my 3" SP in 357. I'll give it an honest appraisal. Have an older SP 3" 357 that is really a nice shooter. Only thing that would give the Colt favor is the grips as I've never found a set for the SP that I was truly happy with, and the sixth shot. I love the rubber Hogues on my Cobra 2017.
My local gun store guy told me the store doesn't order in Colt's unless special order as Colt wants the store to stock the entire line of their products to become a dealer, and they don't want to handle all of Colt's products.
I had to special order my Cobra, so finding a King Cobra in the wild, could prove to be interesting.

Overall I like the lines.
The hammer spur could stand to be wider like the original, both for looks and function. It looks ok in profile.
The new cylinder release is ugly as it is on the Cobra. It's a small change, but the loss of aesthetics reminds me of European revolvers that generally leave me thinking "that doesn't look right".
The barrel/frame/topstrap transitions look good, I like the front sight and barrel profile, grips look comfortable.
It would be nice if there was some kind of adjustable rear sight, and maybe on future models there will be.
Regardless, I'm glad Colt is back in the DA market.

I got all excited when I saw this thread, love the lines of the ORIGINAL KC. This one is butt ugly! Looks more like a freaking Charter Arms than a Colt! YUK!

Well, I'm definitely not going to rush out & buy one, nor trade my amazingly accurate 30 year old King Cobra for one...But the point is Colt is making DA revolvers again...And offering more models, a trend I'd like to see continue & advance.

Agreed, would love to see them back in the DA game again, but if they are going to make them all ugly I will pass.

I doubt if I ever see one in the flesh. When I purchased my Cobra 2017 I had to special order it and when I asked the LGS manager why they didn't stock, he said this: Colt won't let you pick and choose and be a Colt dealer, you have to take the entire package. My Cobra I ordered sight unseen, and was pleased with fit and function. I have sworn off ordering "sight unseen" after a fiasco with a Wiley Clapp SP I ordered and sent to the factory twice and it returned worse than it was originally. This Cobra is comfortable to shoot +Ps and they shoot to POA anywhere from 125 to 158. Carry load is Buffalo Bore 158 LSWCHP non +P that whistles along at 880fps out of the two inch tube.

Had an original King Cobra back in the day but never really came to terms with Colt DA guns (unfortunately never had a Python). The new aesthetics are a step back, but glad to see them in the market again.

I like the simplicity of it. Is the cylinder going to be the same size as the cobra? I always thought a 3in DS in SS would be the perfect .36cal. Especially in .357mag. JMHO-YMMV..........

Glad to see more DA models coming out of Colt even if this one doesn't light my fire. I'd really like to see a new version of the Agent. Aluminum frame, short grip, 6 shot pocket revolver, preferably with the optional hammer shroud of old. The one that lives in my pocket is awful long in the tooth though it remains tight.

I will probably purchase a KC if I can get my hands on one. What I would really like is a Cobra 38+P in a slim profile 3" tube.

I wish Colt well and would like for them to get out of bankruptcies. I am not a fan of revolvers smaller than 44 so I will pass.

My first thought on seeing this picture was that it was a Charter Arms. Glad to see a new model from Colt; if it has as good a trigger as the Cobra I can forgive a lot in the looks department.

Having watched Colt over the last few decades it appears to me that they are basically irrelevant. They rarely innovate and seem out of touch with the shooting public. They have some great historical products like the SAA, but even those are sporadically available at greatly inflated prices. They get by with it over a name...
Now they reintroduce the King Cobra. Good for them. Problem is, they can't even seem to simply reproduce a classic. I guess screwing up the gun's aesthetics is their version of innovation. The reintroduction is so modern and new with an ugly trigger guard and homely cylinder latch... I guess they can't grasp that most revolver shooters long for the one thing they don't have to innovate to achieve, traditional revolvers.
Past Colt DA revolvers (except the Phython) were always substandard because of the DA trigger pull. The did look nice and were good hunting guns (nice SA triggers), so they certainly have a place with American outdoorsmen. Their 1911s are no better than a plethora of others on the market and they only offered updates like beavetail grip safeties, extended thumb safeties, etc because Kimber destroyed them in the marketplace during the 90s. Colt wouldn't have changed a thing on their own... The Delta Elite was an abortion with its unsupported chamber.
The lone Colt product I was interested in was the New Frontier and it was overpriced and is now unavailable.
Sorry for the rant. I want to like Colt. I really do.
