Poor picture but if one was to look close there is death in the long grass! What kind of laser is that. Houge. Seems to stay put. Grips are ok. Laser is bright. They make green as well but I haven’t seen one.

Nice trophies there Longhunter. Squirrel hunting with a handgun is a lot of fun!

Walkabout tonight. Calm and cool. Was walking towards some howling coyotes when this guy waddled by. Beings I didn’t have my ultimate coyote pistol I opted to take this calf sticker outa our pasture. 69 with MP 503 penta 50/50 WW/pure courtesy of leftysixgun. Found some moose crap on my journey as well but no sheds...... lotsa whitetail sign.

When I was in high school, that was tradition for the day or two before deer season... opening day lunch was always squirrel & potatoes & carrots in gravy in the crock pot, to warm up before going out after lunch...

Funny, last year for the first time we did a stew in a Croc Pot at camp and it was squirrel. We added a just killed porky(yup a 480 was involved) and later decided we liked the late added porky meat better than the red squirrel. Granted the squirrel was seared in a skillet and the porky got seared on the fire before joining the party. I never was a serious squirrel hunter, do ya'll think the bigger Fox'x taste better than the Reds ?

we always shot "greys" out of Oaks back then... I would guess the flavor could be affected by what they are eating... I should try a couple of the reds that are eating mostly chokecherries & see how those taste... I just normally feed those to the cats, as they so small
we used to have some nice big Fox squirrels around here, but the reds ran them off... so, I never got the chance to taste one of those...

My Father-n-law was a huge squirrel hunter as a boy and young man. He always said the reds would run off the foxs too. Never quite got that as the reds are very much keyed on the pines and the habitats don't overlap that much.

they run everything off around here ( the greys too ) as they are super hyper & like all the walnuts, & the chokecherry pits as much as the pine cones....
