This new model intrigues me. Its the ultra lightweight K1A version.
With the 150 grn Nosler BT or Accubond 2500+ fps is easy.
Was a classy twist on a old favorite. Think I'll add one to the collection.

You didn't ask what anyone thought but I will give you my 2 cents anyway. I enjoy the 30-30 although mine is in the lever version. But it can be single loaded or if the round will clear I can put one in the tube as well. SO having a single shot is not being handicapped. Have you read Paco Kelly's writings? Lots of good info. You like the spitzer bullets, In the 30-30,, well think about a smaller grain also for coyotes? If you read some of Paco's info he talks about using a 125gr quote (My old notes on this 30-30 show that 42 grains of H335 under a 125 grain JSP bullet gave 3010 fps+...) that was with his Marlin lever gun. I also use a 115gr cast for squirrel. These are fun just to shoot anytime. I would want to quickly ream the chamber to a "30-30 AI" as this would be more to my liking in a Single shot.

+1...30-30 Ackley Improved would be a instantaneous alteration for me as well.

The gun will stay a 30-30 for now and in all likelihood, forever.
But, there are certainly some premium bullets for the 300 Blackout that will see use.

Where can I learn more about this .30-30 K1A? Is it a Lipsey's gun?

Sweet rifles those, I have one in .257 Roberts and its a great shooter. But the price on these .30-30 ones, even street level are pretty high. As regards Paco Kelly loads, he is braver than I am. I have a copy of one of his books autographed to my late dad and its a fun book but his loads are at the very least TOP END. The load quoted above is not much different than what the .270 is loaded to.

Mines on layaway. I think will be a fine hunting rifle.

Looking around a bit, I guess the price isn't ridiculous really, many of the No.1's are that much and more. Still living in the 60's I guess. But the MSRP at Lipseys is ridiculous!

I won't be using Paco loads. With Hodgdon Leverevolution powder I can get 2500 fps from a 150 grn BT/Accubond with pressures around 35,000 CUP.
Will be a fine hunting rifle with those high BC bullets.

sorry to take this slightly off topic, but what is the notch in the front of the forend for??? & is that the "Alexander Henry Forend" OK... spent the last 20 minutes searching, didn't realize I asked such a tough question ... seems like it's been discussed, & rumored, & speculated near to death... with what seems like the 2 most logical guesses being some sort of a notch for crossed sticks, or for tying it onto a rack???

I've read that it was originally uses to rest on sticks. I cannot confirm this, but it seems logical.

the angle of the groove doesn't seem like it would be ideal for crossing sticks, seems like it would be better, if it ran the opposite direction ( but I read that idea several times in my search ) however, my CASS wagon looks like a mini horse drawn wagon, & I have a 4 gun vertical rifle / shot gun rack on the wagon, that has leather ties to hold the guns in, for pulling over rough ground... the groove angle looks like it would work very well with my leather ties??? if I have to pull the wagon over a long distance of rough ground, the butts can start working their way out, away from the rack, & the guns start sliding down... the angle of the groove would keep them from being able to slide down, thus not allowing the butts to slide out I guess I figured in today's "information age", that would be an easy question to answer... but so far, looks like we may never know for sure??? awesome looking rifle though... I've yet to dedicate the funds to a #1... but really like the single shots, & need to add at least a couple
