So let's talk about those ultra rare brass Bisley grip frames for a minute.
Say a guy spots one, what's a good (fair) price?
Were there different versions of these? Thought I heard John Linebaugh had some built, or built some himself. Also heard he still has some and if you have to ask price... well...
Also thought there was a run by some other outfit, dunno....
I also realize that having said grip pre-fit to a gun may change worth too (poor fit, etc.), but still... Just trying to get an idea if I should chase this one down, even if it's just to offer it up here...

He has them and my understanding is he continues to cast them? He only puts them on best grade guns at something like $7k.
One sold here for $600ish, but you could get more (the seller knew this, gave us all a fair shot and had a bunch of guys line up at that price).
Fair price? Not a clue. Over $750 I'd be out, but it might be worth picking up at that price and putting it up for auction since I'm sure there's a few guys that'd approach $1k for it.
Having it fit to your gun may not be hugely detrimental if it was done well- flats flat, radiuses proper, etc. Welding the brass ears up if needed isn't a deal breaker at that price point.
I might also point out be careful it's not just a brass plated grip frame.

I don't remember where the one that sold on here came from, But Linebaugh is the only one I can remember having them made up. They make for a nice looking gun for sure

Oh heavens! Truth be told I am a man of very simple aesthetic. I love the looks of case colors and fine engraving, reworked top straps and special touches, but you'll never find any of that stuff riding on my hip. not ever. But a brass Bisley... damn, they just break me down at the knees. What a fantastic gun, Mike! Wow! That gun would ride with me till the blueing wore off!!

Thanks! After shooting Johns personal 500 I was smitten. Johns gun is 4 5/8", mine is a touch over 5" with a full length ejector rod housing which gives complete extraction of fired cases. Mine also has a Linebaugh cast hammer with hand chased cocking serrations which gives a very secure purchase when cocking the gun.

John is the one with the mold or access to it. Years ago Milt Morrison somehow got to make at least one trees worth of brass bisley grip frames from the mold. About 7-8 years ago he and Karen sold the last 5 brass buckets they had. Another member bought 2 and I bought the other 3. The other two were sold and I mounted all 3 on guns. One was on an OM 44 Special conversion that I sold several months ago. I sold a second awhile ago with the original box elder butler grips made by John Gallagher and a set of nice walnuts by Zane. A member here owns it now. The final one I bought I sent to John Linebaugh along with one of his 475L guns he built and he fit the grip frame and since Dustin was so busy John asked if I would let him built a set if fancy walnut grips. He said he had not done grips for awhile but if I’d let him do these he would do his best. They turned out fantastic and I would sell the WY anniversary gun I just bought before I would sell thus last brass bisley gun he built.
I just did not feel right having 3 of these hard to find grip frames in my safe when so many other guys would live to enjoy them as well.

I too was smitten when I shot John’s personal gun at his shop. I have one of the brass grip frames that I bought on GB (at Robb’s urging) that had been stuck on an OM SBH. I also bought a set of Clements OM Bisley hammer and trigger from a member here to finish out my needed parts. It will become a 5 1/2” 45 Colt in the near future.

I think the only way I'll ever get my hands on something like that is if I have a bisley GF brass plated. Maybe high polish TiN.
I suppose it depends if I intended to let the piece tarnish or if I wanted to keep it shiny.

It's ABSOLUTELY Gorgeous and Mr. L has nailed the Bisley grip, they are the most comfortable grips I've handled on a SA to date. Thanks for sharing!

This was the OM flat top 44 Special John Gallagher did for me. This gun lives elsewhere now.

John did the grips on the 475 and I think Roy did the ones on the 44 Special

At that price point, you'd think it would be worth the effort for someone to CNC a bunch of them, even with all the metal loss.
