I've used 17 to 19 grains of 2400 with that bullet in its HP form, crimped in the top groove. Comfortable and accurate load. I could not discern any accuracy difference between 17, 18 or 19 grains. I use the same loads with the Lee 400 grain flat point and Lee 400 grain SWC. Have only started to play with 4227 and am not home where I can access my loading notes. I've used Bullseye, Unique, Trailboss, 2400 and just started with 4227. I plan to work with some HS6 soon. I did try a few H110 loads when I first had my 480 but prefer 2400. It will make a 480 do everything I need to do. Mart, what model 480 are you shooting?

If I were loading for a cartridge like a 480 or 500, I would take a serious look at 680. If I could not get it, I would try 1680. I liked 680 in a 44 magnum, but the case was too small to get full potential using the long bullets I was shooting.

In my SBHB I'm shooting 2400 with Speer 325gr bullets, I started at 23 and went up to 24.5. I ended up at 23.5 for consistency at 50 yards, anymore and it wasn't giving me the expected groups.
I've also shot 2400 under the Missouri 340gr bullet, I believe I did 17-20gr's and they all shot great, but I ended up going to HS6 with this bullet as it didn't need to be driven hard and was mainly purchased for fun.
Dick recently sent me some of his 385gr HPs and I loaded up 15 with 14gr HS6, which is what I use in the Missouri bullets as well, I have high hopes for it. I haven't shot them yet, but next chance I get I'll find out how they do.

Yes, 680 was a Winchester powder but 1680 is an Accurate Arms brand. They are not the same powder but close enough to be similar to different lots of powder. In a .500 it give a lot of velocity for a lower pressure. There is not a lot of data on the .480 that I can find. It is worth trying out though.
