I can see why. I have done some high peaks, most recently Seward and Seymour. I'm becoming more of a wall tent guy over backpacking high peaks. The only training I have to do is for more recipes, not for longer pack in's and higher peaks. Besides, I really like my cot.

Pic is from Feb of '86. I'm low left. Cam is clamped to my ice axe. .This the High Peak Range. Giant Mt in background. Did Giant Mt as a day climb a few days later. It was -11. Guy in back, right, went on to summit McKinley twice. He still climbs !

Great pic!!!!
I know the challenge of climbing the peaks without snow on the ground. Add the white dimension and boy does it up the ante. Definitely something to be proud of.

My Mom always made the Best Chile in a cast iron skillet. I grew up with it and make it still today in the same skillet. Don't ever use anything but very hot water on the stove to clean it up with. Works well to this Day. Still tastes great also. Not meant to compete in the Cook Offs.

All our cooking is in cast, when we were yound it was cast, then 40 years ago the wife went thru the teflom BS all here friends had it, a couple throw aways later about 20 years ago we went back to all cast. So much fer that grass bein greener! The outdoors cooking experience stops at griddle and skillet fer me, or on an open grate. But I been wanting to get into some Dutch Oven cooking, and you just might have pushed me over the think'n bout it Dick,,, I can see here if I have questions where to come.
We seldom soap wash any of the skillets or griddle, unless something gets burn into them no need, just paper towel wipe, and rub a little olive oil in when it cools and ready for the next use. But when we do it's no biggy, wash heat with water till boil, dump it and it drys instantly, reapply some olive oil with a paper towel. we do use veggie oil now and then, but lard or olive oil is the main cooking oil we use.
HMM so the first pancake aint just me huh,,,,
