I like mine. Get a file for the sights, dial it in with silvertips and tote it. Good guns. Not match accurate or overly handsome, but functional and dependable.

I love mine: I do recommend Pachmyr compacts over the factory rubber. They fit the gun much better. As for loads, mine really likes 6.0 of Green Dot under a 250 grain Keith. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Good deal, I'm glad you guys like yours. I've done some searching and most reports are very favorable on the new Charter Arms revolvers. I think I'll pick this one up! What holsters are you using?

I like the desantis nemesis pocket holster and speed strips in the off hand side. I have an IWB that came with mine (a Greg Norman?) but I only carried it a few times. I slipped eagle grips Secret Service Stocks on mine for pocket carry, but keep a set of the pachmayr compacs on hand for fanny pack carry when I'm all touristy. 44 power in a 38 size envelope: whats not to like! JT has written several times about 'em too. If you haven't already seen his articles on the piece look for 'em. (course, if you're already here, you've probably already read 'em.)

That Simply Rugged looks like just the ticket Lee! I was thinking about a Barami Hip Grip with a Tyler T-grip, but I'm sure those compacts are much more comfortable to shoot with.

Well you guys did not talk me out of it, first impression is that it is pretty rough. First thing I did was clean it and blew the action out with brake cleaner and oiled it up, that helped quite a bit! I'll shoot a few hundred rounds through it and decide then if it requires a break down and slick up. Cylinder is pretty loose side to side and the cylinder gap is .006 wide. The rifling lands have chatter marks, the grooves look smooth though. Over all it looks good and if it shoots straight I will be happy with it. I'll try to get out this weekend and let you all know how she shoots.

I hope so Frank. Not sure though, I just looked down the barrel and can see one side of the cylinder (Looks like a crescent moon) The cylinder is not rotating far enough to center the chambers with the barrel. There is enough side to side play in the cylinder to rotate by hand just enough to make it line up. Think I should worry about it or just shoot the dang thing?

I'd see if it spits first, and then call 'em. If it ain't right they'll make it that way.

After sleeping on it I decided to see if I could get my money back, the cylinder was just not right and the gun shop agreed after inspecting it. I had to eat the background check fee, but figured I would be money ahead if I had to pay shipping one way. I will do a much better inspection before I buy the next one.

Sorry you had to take it back. Mine was also a little rough around the edges (action, bore, etc). Both smoothed up the more I shot it. Every Charter Arms I've worked with has some cylinder play, but not to the extent you described. Sounds like you got one that needed to go back to the factory. Overall though, mine has been an accurate little snub for plinking.....and for the money, they're a decent CCW. Bulldogs just aren't built for volume shooting or heavy 44 Special. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Salvo, I'm sorry you had to take it back too. Don't give up on them I'm kinda like Lee, I think they are a good gun for the money but maybe they really need to be inspected closely before you buy one. Charter does have a good service dept. though. Frank
