Our friend Mark Hampton has been busy making memories again! Here is an awesome cinnamon color-phased black bear from a recent hunting trip to Wyoming. Congrats Mark, please share some details!

Thanks for posting Darrell! I was a bit disappointed I didn't get to use a Ruger .41 Mag. with Dick Thompson's 230 gr. powder-coated bullets. Shot this bear with an Encore in 300 Win. Mag. The shot was ranged at 380 yards across the canyon. This is not the biggest bear in WY but I couldn't pass up the color-phase. We were hunting at 7300 foot elevation with snow in patches. Spring bear hunting is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while waiting for fall hunting seasons.

So Mark, are you saying 380 yards might be stretching the middle magnum a little too far?😉 Looks like some great shooting right there. Congratulations on a great color phase bear!

Thanks for the kind words. Kings6, 380 yards is stretching "me". I'd rather get within 30 steps or so

Just give the word and I'll send you a couple 41's to play with. You can take your pick from 41 Specials to a 414 scoped 5 shot with standard 41 mags in between.

Sorry to hear about, and see, the bloody nose. With a Bear that nice I would be smiling too, in spite of that. Congratulations on such fine shooting and trophy.

I love spring bear hunting, we have the color phases of bears here in Oregon too. I am working on the "slam"; black, brown, cinnamon & blonde, so far I am only two for four. The only thing that will deter me is if I find one that is damn big of a color that I already have.
