He's turning 10 this month I put the factory wood stock back on the Crickett and that fits him perfectly now. Let me tell you, one of the nice things about AR's is the adjustable stock. He loves shooting rimfire in an AR.

I thought I remembered him and my son to be about the same age. My mini me turned 10 in January. I started mine out on a rimfire AR due to his small size as well. Worked great. He loved it and we were able work on trigger pull mechanics easily and cheaply with that 22.

Back to the Cricketts... they have HUGE, legal potential. I don't think folks truly appreciate how simple they are. They're kinda one of my "things" Over in New Hampshire, roaming the White Mountains with a Crickett under my poncho.

Small detour...munchkin on the 500 yard line during a comp last November. He shot the 223 out to 700 that day but the wind was BAD and we couldn't spot the hit at 700. He said he's gonna use the bolt gun next time It was his first day with this particular one so I felt that he did pretty well. It was fun to watch!

I love seeing these young people out there preparing for their time to carry the torch. Good on y'all alukban and zeus. Somebody ought to start a thread dedicated to our young shooters here on the forum.

My son hasn't mastered the open sites on the old Chipmunk but LOVES the red dot on any AR of mine. A friend of mine when he was much younger, his father wouldn't let him have a shotgun until he could put the bullet from the 22 through the eyes of his prey. I don't have the land resources to follow that train of thought. Teaching a six year old a discipline like that may not be my forte'. His ole man can't see the open sights anyway.

I feel like I should buy this rifle just because I'm a terrible rifle shot and I have the skills of a tiny child.

Many years ago I found an Anschutz Woodchucker .22 LR.
Really cool little rifle. Bought it for my G/F.

First impressions are that it is cool little rifle. 4x scope is plenty. Scopebase was loose but fixed. Comes with a knock-off Harris type bipod. Hearing protection and shooting glasses. Not bad for 325 out the door.
