From Bowen's website:
FEBRUARY 9, 2017 | NEWS UPDATE —Effective March 15th, we will no longer be able to accept the more complicated line-bored caliber conversions until we are caught up on these. With our current workload, we are simply too far behind on such projects at this time to accept more. The more basic single-action packages are welcome and we hope to be able to speed up delivery on this sort of work this spring.
Figure that's a $3K Nimrod conversion plus whatever. I don't see on his website the Linebaugh Max pricing though.
Linebaugh charges $4500 plus $300 for the barrel band.
Base guns seem to be selling in the $800+ range.
I am curious why it's wearing that rear sight instead of a Bowen.

Yeah, You'd think there would be a nice rear sight on it... I can't figure out most folks... My best guess would be the previous owner swapped the rear sight before getting rid of the gun. Perhaps the same happened with custom grips.

The grips are different......Lots of folks (not here) seem not to care....they're a handle.
I agree about the sight but I just don't see how somebody could do that.
Freaking cheapskate....

Some guns you can pull the Bowen sight and be fine. They are hard to come by. But a $4500 BOWEN gun, you can't pull the Bowen sight.
It's a shame when you look at a custom for sale and can tell the builder originally made it something much nicer. There was a recent Harton gun like that IIRC.

That Harton gun is probably the 5 shot 45 I picked up from Glenn and is now destined for a new home. When it first came up for sale it had a Ruger sight and it just did not was not right. Thankfully Greg sent me a Bowen sight for the gun until mine came in and suddenly the world was turning on its axis again. Shoot, maybe one of us ought to send the seller a Bowen sight, tell him to install it then send a $110 back when the gun sells!

The Bowen target sights are readily available now too (new model anyways) unlike the rough country.
I tried to order a RC last week and was told 60 days plus, but they sent me a Target sight in two days.
I also wonder why the sight on that 475 is cranked so far over to the right.

I also wonder why the sight on that 475 is cranked so far over to the right. I had that same thought. I wouldn't want to be clocking a barrel on a $4500 gun myself, which means after you put down all that money you get to pay a little more and have the gun out of pocket for as long as your gunsmith takes. Or the PO was a horrible shot and had it sighted in wrong, or they pulled the Bowen, put on a Ruger sight and never sighted it in. Again, lots of money and lots of questions. Still, they don't come up for sale often and will always be rare and powerful guns.

My pedestrian 475 provides all the fun I want to hang on to and I don't even use H110/296 type loads in it. My understanding is the small increase in velocity the max case gives you comes at an exponentially large increase in recoil. There is a reason some of the guys won't build these guns any longer. Like Mr. Bowen said, they just are not fun to test shoot or regulate.

However, there is a huge "cool factor" that comes attached to the big Maximums!

For slightly less money you can get one of the two paired Linebaugh built 475 maxis on GB

We should/need to educate the seller on "principals & ethics" when it comes to customs...
