I have a 357 in the long octagon barrel. It is a stellar performer but quite heavy. My buddy gave it to me so will stay as is. If I got one for myself I would go 20 inch and round if I could.

I put a Boyds laminate buttstock with a recoil pad on my 45 colt.

The Rossi M92 is a decent rifle/carbine. Sometimes they need a bit of smoothin' up, but when done you've a lifetime companion for woods loafing or hunting. As for the 24" octagon .44 magnum, the forward heavy weight aspect some mention may depend on intended use? Range or field. If mostly range use, it'll be carried in your car/truck, weight no problem. If in the field, then weight may be a consideration to think 'bout? As for the crescent butt plate, not so user friendly with full .44 magnum loads, but doable if you use a padded shoulder pad on your shooting jacket or a strap on kind. If planned use is for general hunting and field use, might consider a 20" round barrel carbine?
I use the .44 magnum M92 in a 16" Trapper for handiness when hiking/woods loafing. Also have a 20" round barrel carbine that I'll often carry as well, along with 2 of the 16" .357 magnum Trapper model. Again, they may require a bit of smoothing up, but go to the rossi-rifleman web site mentioned above and you'll be in the splendid company of Rossi users. Any questions you may have, they're always ready n' willing to provide good solid information and assistance.
Tried uploading a picture but site won't let me load. Yes, I was way below the 1 MB size limit. Maybe I need to have made more Posts in the Forum here before they'll allow me to post pictures?
