I'm thinking about building a .32 on a .22 frame with a take off cylinder and rebored barrel, flattopping it, adding a no 5 grip frame (w/ ruger small frame bisley hammer) and giving my dad my current .32. He loves that thing.

Man! Don't be calling something based on a Single Six with a .311 bore a #5.... There will be a hot tar pot and feathers in your front yard in the morning...  Have you considered calling it a #2?  ;D ;D ;D Does sound like a fine opportunity to fit a full cylinder window length cylinder and going 327...  |

#1 thru #4 were Croft guns...
I wasn''t planning on "calling" it a number 5. Just using the gripframe style.
I would have a .327 scheduled if I knew that I could get brass for it in 5 years...or even right now.
Maybe we have enough crazy people on here to commission a 50K pieces run at starline...

A steel grip frame, let alone a #5 or Bisley, is just a no-go for me on a Single-Six. I need the barrel to want to hang there with a bit of weight and the little Single-Six does just that with an aluminum grip frame. Exactly why I sold my 32 Bisley to 2 dogs a couple of years ago.

On the tiny #5 concept... Years ago when Ron Power was still making his Grand Master revolver.... On the Power Custom table at the Bianchi Cup there was a tiny 22LR grand master built on a J frame S&W... Nice! |

On the Power Custom table at the Bianchi Cup there was a tiny 22LR grand master built on a J frame S&W... Nice!  Now THERE is a very cool idea... I am the king of the $800 rimfire, ya know... Stainless kit gun with a slab sided bull barrel and square butt... maybe even a fitted mag cylinder to go with it, topped off with a docter mini dot... Hmmmmm..... |

I know Ron has talked about it...thought it would be "cool". I told him I thought that frame might be kinda wasted on the little SS. He talked about a "set" of #5's in all three frame sizes.
He did have me bring my OM single six in so he could make sure his OM Bisley hammers would work in them too. He was pretty happy to find that they would.
Markbo, the bearcat is the only SA Ruger that the Power #5 grip frame won't fit on.

Thats a k frame smith T-grip. I have a J frame on it now, which fits a little better... doesn't overlap the base... I wanted a secret service style grip for it, but figured I should test it first. I might just take a dremel to the adapter and fit it a little better. Makes a big difference to me, as it doesn't squirm so much in the hand. The trigger has a tyler shoe on it now too. every little bit helps!
