I checked the new 1894 specs, and you're right, Marlington has inexplicably switched to the slowwwwww twist on their .45s, too. Befuddling, for sure.

Not to get away from O.P., but henry runs two different twists for .44s. In lever actions, its 1-38, in their single shot rifle .44s, its 1-20. No sense at all.

My late model 1895 is very well made, except for the pressed checkering. Nice wood and the metalwork is better than any of my older Marlins.
The new custom shop guns are seriously haunting me. They had several at the NRA show and the Turnbull case colors were mouth watering!
Supposedly the new Chiappa 92's have a proper twist rate, 20" for .44Mag and 16" for .45Colt. Been threatening to try one.
