In the spring of 2011 I was was walking my dog along a pipeline near my parents house and had one cross the pipeline in front of me about 80 yards out... It stopped close to the ground and just looked at us for about 20 seconds before slinking off... Thought at first it was a coyote but the tail was wrong...
Couple months later it was killed on the highway about 10 miles south of where I saw it...
They are in NE but the F&G people deny it as if it is proven they are there F&G will have to spend money studying them which they don't want to do. I know people who have seen them in NH and Maine also...

i live in the lowcountry of SC, my first encounter with a large cat was in 1981. i was deer hunting when i saw one sitting on an old road between two fields, i couldn't believe what i was seeing. it was cold black and just sitting on his rear end on the ground about 60yds away. he looked at me and then he sprang off into a soy bean field. the next time i saw one was on some property i own by a river. then one day me and my daddy was getting out of a truck and loading our rifles to start a deer hunt. i looked down the woods road and there in the road stepped out 3 large black cats! i told my dad in a whisper, look! he said is that dogs? i said no cats! i looked at them through my 9x scope, they all walked off. then a few years latter me and my wife had one run in front of our truck and into a yard, then i saw another one on my property again, then me and my wife was in a box stand 2020 deer hunting and she was the one that was going to shoot. about 10 min before dark an animal came in the shooting lane about 80yds away. she was looking through the scope, i said is that a dog? she said no a cat! i had funny looks when i told people about the cats i saw so i said the next one i see i am going to kill it! i told her shoot! she just couldn't make a good shot as it was walking and never stopped, so it walked off. it was so dark i couldn't tell the color, she said it was brown. all the others i have saw were black and they all have long tails, not a bob cat in any way! they are a cougar. they are not officially supposed to exist here in SC but believe me they do,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I get calls from ranchers all the time about “big cats” taking their sheep or goats, every time the evidence is large dog tracks. That said, I had a local guy come out and install a whole home water filtration system. When he walked in the house and saw the mounts, he said “hey ive got something to show you” he pulls out his phone and shows me pics of a 90-100 pound cougar that he and his son took 30 miles north of the house. I live in central Texas, just north of Austin. They were out at night Varmint calling and had this young cat come to one of their sets. They hit it with #4 buck, at about 15 yards and the cat still made it 100 yards before expiring. Many of the residents and locals claim to have seen lions running up and down the river bottom, maybe there is some truth to it.
